How to connect Google Analytics 4 to Orchly
Connect a GA4 property to combine traffic and conversion data with your Search Console keywords inside Orchly.
To connect Google Analytics 4 to Orchly, open Settings → Integrations, click Manage on Google Analytics, sign in with Google, and choose the GA4 property for this workspace. Orchly then pulls sessions, conversions and revenue, and shows how much of that traffic came from AI assistants like ChatGPT and Perplexity.
Search Console tells you what people searched. GA4 tells you what happened after the click. Together they show whether your organic and AI search visibility turns into sign-ups and sales.
A Google account with access to the GA4 property. If you can open the property in Google Analytics today, you can connect it.
How do I connect Google Analytics 4?
- Go to Settings → Integrations and click Manage on Google Analytics.
- In the drawer, click Connect Google Analytics.
- Google opens in the same tab (a full-page redirect, not a popup). Sign in and approve access.
- Back in Orchly, a Finish connecting Google Analytics window asks for the GA4 property. Open Select a property, choose the one for this workspace’s site, and click Finish setup.
If the account only has one property, Orchly selects it and finishes setup for you. Either way, it starts backfilling your history straight away.
The connection is read-only. Orchly never changes your GA4 configuration or sends data back into Google Analytics.
How do I choose conversion events?
Once a property is saved, the drawer’s Settings section shows a Conversion events list pulled from that property.
- Click Manage on Google Analytics to open the drawer.
- Under Conversion events, tick the events you care about, like sign-ups or purchases.
- Click the save button (it shows the count, for example Save 2 event(s)).
These are the events Orchly reports as conversions, so pick the ones that mean real business results. If the list says “No conversion events on this property”, set them up in GA4 first.
What does GA4 add to Orchly?
GA4 appears as a source on the organic search dashboard (Analytics (GA4), or Search Console + Analytics combined). You get:
| Data | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Sessions, users and new users | How much traffic you get, and from how many people |
| Traffic sources and channels | Where visits came from, including AI referrals |
| Conversions and revenue | Which visits turned into results, by landing page |
| Country, device and page data | Who converts, and on which pages |
Agents can read it too. Ask Orchly things like “How much AI referral traffic converted last month?” or “Compare ChatGPT and Perplexity referrals this quarter”.
Can I connect more than one property?
Yes. Google Analytics is the one integration that allows several connections per workspace. Once one exists, the drawer shows a Connections list:
- Add connection shows the Connect Google Analytics button again, so you can sign in for another property.
- Open shows that connection’s property and events.
- Disconnect removes it.
To change the property on an existing connection, pick a new one in the GA4 property dropdown and click Save property.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Action required and “Select a property to start syncing” | Click Finish setup and choose a property. Nothing syncs until you do. |
| ”This connection has expired. Reconnect Google Analytics to continue.” | Click Reconnect Google Analytics and sign in again. |
| ”This connection was authorised before we could read Analytics. Reconnect to grant access.” | The old sign-in is missing a permission. Reconnect to grant it. |
| Your property isn’t in the list | That Google account can’t see it. Reconnect with the right account, or get added to the property in GA4. |
| Numbers look off | Check you picked the property for this workspace’s site, not another one on the same account. |
GA4 is most useful next to Google Search Console. For crawler visits and AI referrals measured on the server, see AI traffic tracking.
