10 Best Outranking Alternatives in 2026 (Stable Picks)

Outranking alternatives are the practical choice now that Outranking itself is hard to rely on. Outranking, an AI writer and content optimizer that once started at $19 a month, went offline for days in July 2026, came back in September with its plans listed from $1,500 a month, and was down again when we checked in late October. Its brief, draft and score workflow was useful, but you need a tool that's still being built.

These 10 Outranking alternatives cover live content editors, AI writers that publish, a topic strategy platform and an agentic AI search platform. Prices checked in November 2026.

Editor's note

How we picked these Outranking alternatives

Outranking was a brief, AI draft and content score tool, so we looked for tools that do that job and are still being built. For each one we checked:

  • How it researches, drafts and scores content, and whether it publishes
  • Which AI engines the plan you'd buy tracks, if any
  • The monthly price, and what the trial and refund terms say

Writesonic is the one tool here we've used on a trial. Outranking, Surfer, Frase, NEURONwriter, Scalenut, Clearscope, MarketMuse, Search Atlas and Byword aren't on our tested list, so we describe them from pricing pages, docs, changelogs, archived pages and user reviews. Outranking's site was down when we checked, so its section relies on archived copies. Quotes are condensed from Trustpilot and Capterra and link to the original.

Orchly is our product. We held it to the same checks and say where it falls short. Checked November 2026.

1. Orchly: best Outranking alternative to grow Google and AI visibility

Orchly Content Agent task board suggesting new articles and page refreshes based on AI visibility and organic data
Orchly's Content Agent picks what to write and refresh

Orchly is an agentic AI search optimization platform for content teams. It reads answers from the real interfaces of ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews every day, with Gemini, Google AI Mode, Claude, Grok and Microsoft Copilot as paid add-ons (it also tracks Meta AI and DeepSeek), and its agents run on their own, on a schedule.

They analyze your AI visibility, your competitors, your SEO and your Search Console and GA4 data, decide what to write and which pages to refresh, and write and refresh them in your brand voice. They keep Brand Brain up to date, find the sites, people and Reddit threads worth reaching, run the outreach and draft the replies, and audit your site for technical SEO and AI search issues with the fixes ranked. You decide whether each agent works on its own or waits for your approval.

Outranking gave you a brief, a draft and a score, and the rest of the work was yours. Orchly's agents run that work end to end, from $49 a month.

Content, chosen, written and published

  • Content Agent. Runs on a schedule, uses Search Console decay and AI citation gaps to decide what to write and which pages to refresh, then the AI article writer drafts each one in your brand voice.

  • Brand Brain. Your products, audience, tone and the markets you set up, kept up to date automatically and used in every draft.

  • Publishing. Straight to WordPress, Webflow, Framer, Wix, Sanity or Ghost, with no AI character credits to count.

  • Search Console and GA4. Clicks, conversions and revenue from Search Console and GA4, next to your AI visibility.

  • Daily AI tracking. 25 prompts every day on Essential across ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews, read from each engine's real interface, with Gemini, AI Mode, Claude, Grok and Copilot as add-ons. Orchly also tracks Meta AI and DeepSeek. Outranking didn't track AI answers.

Where Orchly falls short

  • No live term editor. Outranking scored drafts term by term as you wrote. Orchly writes and refreshes for you instead.
  • No lifetime deal. Orchly is billed monthly or yearly, from $49.

Orchly pricing

  • Essential: $49/month for 25 prompts, 20 articles, 1 site and 1 user
  • Pro: $125/month for 100 prompts, 50 articles, 3 sites and 5 users, with AI traffic analytics, custom agents and white-label reports
  • Enterprise: custom, with a customer success manager
  • There's a 7-day free trial, and yearly billing saves 25%.

2. Surfer: best content editor

Surfer content editor

Surfer is a content optimization platform with a live Content Editor, an AI writer and AI search tracking from its Standard plan, which suits Outranking users who mostly lived in the editor and want a well-known, actively developed replacement. We haven't used Surfer ourselves, so this section is based on its pricing page, changelog and user reviews.

The editor works the way Outranking's did. You write, and the Content Score moves as you cover the terms, headings and questions the top pages share, in Surfer, Google Docs or WordPress.

Surfer keeps shipping, which is the point if you're leaving a tool that went quiet. It added an AI SEO Content Score for AI search in May 2026 and made its MCP server generally available in October, and it also runs content audits and rank drop alerts from Search Console.

AI tracking depends on the plan. Discovery has none, Standard checks 25 ChatGPT prompts weekly, and daily tracking on five engines starts on Pro.

Key features

  • Content Editor and Content Score. Live scoring against ranking pages, with Google Docs and WordPress integrations.
  • AI SEO Content Score. Grades drafts for Google and AI search, added May 2026.
  • AI Tracker. 25 weekly ChatGPT prompts on Standard, 50 daily prompts on ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Mode, AI Overviews and Gemini on Pro.
  • Content audit and internal links. Fixes for published pages and rank drop alerts from Search Console.
  • MCP server. Generally available since October 2026, on Pro and above.

Where it falls short

  • No Claude, Grok or Copilot tracking.
  • Discovery has no AI tracking, and Standard only checks ChatGPT once a week.
  • Documents, seats and prompts are capped by plan, so heavy writers pay for the bigger tiers.

User reviews

“Pulling information from the SERP in real time changed things for us. Content creation got much easier.” (Source)

“Great for optimizing articles in English. I wish it were as good in Spanish.” (Source)

“I tested it on three sites over about six months, and all three dropped in rankings after I followed its suggestions.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Discovery: $49/month billed yearly ($59 monthly), with no AI tracking
  • Standard: $99/month billed yearly ($119 monthly), with 25 weekly ChatGPT prompts
  • Pro: $182/month billed yearly ($219 monthly), with 50 daily prompts on five AI engines
  • AI Search Analytics on its own is $82/month billed yearly. The 7-day Pro trial needs a card.

3. Frase: best budget all-in-one

Frase content research and optimization

Frase is an SEO and GEO content platform whose agent researches, writes, optimizes and publishes from $39 a month billed yearly, which makes it the closest match to Outranking's brief-to-draft-to-score workflow. We haven't used Frase ourselves, so this section draws on its pricing page, changelog, archived pricing pages and Trustpilot reviews.

Outranking's flow was a SERP brief, an AI first draft and an optimization score. Frase does all three, and since its early 2026 rebuild one agent handles the whole run from a plain-language request, then publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Wix, Sanity or its own FraseCMS.

Each draft gets an SEO score and a GEO score. Content Guard watches published pages and drafts a fix when one slips, and the entry plan tracks 20 prompts in ChatGPT and Google's AI results.

If you bought Frase on a lifetime deal years ago, read the reviews first. One lifetime buyer says the 2026 rebuild sits behind a new subscription.

Key features

  • Frase agent. Research, writing, optimization and publishing from plain-language requests.
  • SEO and GEO scores. Every draft is scored for Google and for AI citation.
  • Content Guard. Watches 10 to 300 live pages and drafts fixes for your approval.
  • AI Visibility. 20, 50 or 75 tracked prompts, rebuilt on October 21, 2026 with recommendations and sentiment.
  • API, MCP server and CLI on every plan, plus a ChatGPT app since October 2026.

Where it falls short

  • 1 seat on Starter.
  • Claude and Gemini tracking only on the $239 Scale plan.
  • Lifetime-deal buyers were moved to a legacy version and offered a discount on the new one.

User reviews

“A trial quietly turned into a paid plan, but when I emailed, they refunded all seven months the next day.” (Source)

“ChatGPT works just as well, and they don't give refunds.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Starter: $39/month billed yearly ($49 monthly) for 1 seat, 10 articles and 20 tracked prompts
  • Professional: $103/month billed yearly ($129 monthly) for 3 seats, 40 articles, 50 prompts and Perplexity
  • Scale: $239/month billed yearly ($299 monthly) for 5 seats, 100 articles, 75 prompts, Claude and Gemini
  • Every plan has a 7-day free trial with no card.

4. NEURONwriter: best cheap editor

NEURONwriter content editor

NEURONwriter is a low-cost NLP content editor from $23 a month that scores drafts term by term against the pages that rank, which suits freelancers and bloggers who used Outranking for its optimization score and want something cheaper. We haven't used NEURONwriter ourselves, so this section is based on its pricing page, help pages, updates board and Trustpilot reviews.

You pick a keyword, choose which competitor pages to learn from, and write against a list of terms, headings and questions while the score moves. Content Designer drafts the article for you from Gold up.

Outranking supported 10 languages. NEURONwriter is popular with writers in smaller languages, and its Trustpilot reviews include writers working in Greek and Swedish.

AI tracking is light. Every plan monitors 5 to 20 questions in Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, and ChatGPT and Perplexity need an Advanced add-on from $9 a month.

Key features

  • Content Writer. Live NLP term suggestions and a content score from the competitors you pick.
  • Content Designer. AI drafts from your outline, on Gold and above.
  • AI Visibility. 5 to 20 questions in AI Overviews and AI Mode, with ChatGPT and Perplexity as an add-on.
  • Search Console, WordPress and Shopify from Gold, with unlimited team members.
  • API and MCP server from Gold.

Where it falls short

  • No Claude, Gemini or Copilot tracking.
  • Integrations and team seats only from the $69 Gold plan.
  • No publishing agent. You still write or edit each draft yourself.

User reviews

“The best price-performance in its category.” (Source)

“I write in Greek, and the AI suggestions still improve my writing. The competitor analysis changed my content strategy.” (Source)

“It looks good at first, but you only get so many queries a month, and there's no way to buy extra when you need them.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Bronze: $23/month for 2 projects, 25 documents and 5 AI-monitored questions
  • Gold: $69/month for 10 projects, 75 documents, 10 questions, unlimited team members and integrations
  • Diamond: $117/month for 50 projects, 150 documents and 20 questions
  • Silver ($45) and Platinum ($93) sit in between. Yearly billing gives 2 months free, and there's a 30-day refund.

5. Scalenut: best budget bundle

Scalenut content optimization

Scalenut is an AI content platform that bundles GEO article writing, content optimization, weekly AI visibility tracking and WordPress or Shopify publishing from $59 a month, which suits small teams that liked having Outranking's research, writing and scoring in one tool. We haven't used Scalenut ourselves, so this section is based on its pricing page, archived pricing pages, terms and Trustpilot reviews.

Starter writes 5 GEO articles a month, optimizes 5 existing ones and tracks 10 prompts in ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews. Plus at $89 adds auto-publishing, internal linking, 4 team members and Social Upreach for Reddit threads.

Tracking is weekly on every plan, and Perplexity only arrives on Professional. An older AI visibility page on its site still shows a daily tracker with Claude, but the current plan cards don't include it.

When we checked, a Black Friday early access offer cut yearly plans by 65%. It's annual only and non-refundable, and its terms rule out refunds after the 7-day trial, so test it properly first.

Key features

  • GEO article writer. 5, 30 or 75 articles a month, plus the same number of optimizations.
  • AI visibility tracking. 10, 25 or 100 prompts, refreshed weekly.
  • Auto-publish to WordPress and Shopify, from Plus.
  • Social Upreach. Subreddits, keywords and competitors to watch on Reddit, from Plus.
  • Content audit and cannibalization checks. 200 to 1,000 pages a month.

Where it falls short

  • Weekly AI tracking only.
  • No Claude or Gemini tracking, and Perplexity only on Professional.
  • No new Trustpilot reviews in the past 12 months.

User reviews

“The score system is intuitive, and sorting NLP terms by important or unused is excellent. The AI content just needs a few tweaks.” (Source)

“One of the best AI writers I've found, but there are lots of grammar and punctuation errors to fix myself.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Starter: $59/month for 10 prompts, 5 articles and 1 workspace
  • Plus: $89/month for 25 prompts, 30 articles, auto-publishing and 4 team members
  • Professional: $199/month for 100 prompts, Perplexity, 75 articles and unlimited workspaces
  • The 7-day free trial needs no card. The Black Friday deal brings yearly plans to $21, $31 and $70 a month.

6. Clearscope: best for grading

Clearscope content grading

Clearscope is a content grading and AI search tracking tool from $129 a month with unlimited users, which suits editorial teams that used Outranking mainly to grade drafts before publishing. We haven't used Clearscope ourselves, so this section is based on its pricing page, product pages, archived pricing pages and Capterra reviews.

Writers get a letter grade and a term list in Clearscope, Google Docs or WordPress, and editors can trust the grade without reading every competitor page. It's simpler than Outranking was, with fewer knobs and less to learn.

It has grown in the last year. Clearscope 2.0 cut Essentials from $189 to $129 in October 2025, Query Tracking now follows answers in ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, and a 14-day free trial arrived in summer 2026.

Writing is the limited part. Essentials includes 20 AI drafts a month, and Clearscope doesn't publish to your CMS.

Key features

  • Content grading. Letter grades and term suggestions in its editor, Google Docs and WordPress.
  • Query Tracking. 50 tracked queries on Essentials across ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, with up to 5 competitor domains.
  • Discoveries. Topic and question research for new content.
  • Content Inventory. Search Console data with content decay and striking-distance views.
  • Unlimited users and projects on every plan.

Where it falls short

  • 20 AI drafts a month, and no publishing.
  • The pricing page lists only ChatGPT and Gemini, while product pages add Claude.
  • No Perplexity, AI Overviews or Copilot tracking.

User reviews

“You have to copy and paste content in to grade it. Pulling it straight from a URL would be a big help.” (Source)

“I still use Frase for research and briefs, and Clearscope for optimizing once the article is written.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Essentials: $129/month for 50 tracked queries, 50 pages, 20 Discoveries and 20 drafts
  • Business: $399/month for 300 tracked queries, 300 pages and 50 Discoveries, with an account manager
  • Enterprise: custom, with SSO
  • There's a 14-day free trial and no contract.

7. Writesonic: best AI writer

Writesonic AI article writer

Writesonic is an AI writing and GEO platform that tracks your brand in AI answers daily and writes 15 to 50 articles a month for WordPress, which suits Outranking users who mainly want more finished articles plus a view of how they show up in ChatGPT.

We signed up and had tracking running in a few minutes. You pick topics, trim the prompts it suggests, add competitors, and citation share starts to fill in day by day.

Compared with Outranking's one document at a time, it's built for volume. Starter writes 15 articles a month and publishes to WordPress, and topic ideas come from the tracking, Reddit and Search Console.

What held us back was the engine list. Self-serve plans track ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews only, and there's no live term-by-term editor like Outranking's.

Key features

  • AI articles. 15, 25 or 50 a month, published to WordPress.
  • Daily AI tracking. 50, 100 or 200 prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews.
  • Site audits. 10 to 50 a month, depending on plan.
  • Action Center. Fixes re-measured on day 14 and day 28, as a trial on Growth and in full on Enterprise.
  • MCP server and Project Hub, added in June 2026.

Where it falls short

  • No Perplexity, Claude, Copilot or AI Mode below Enterprise.
  • No live content score while you write.
  • 1 user on Starter.

User reviews

“It consistently gives us clear source attribution and the length we ask for, which other tools didn't.” (Source)

“Quick to learn and it publishes to WordPress, but the advanced SEO tools sit behind expensive plans and credits drain fast on long posts.” (Source)

“Chatsonic stopped working properly for things it used to handle, and they won't refund an annual plan.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Starter: $79/month billed yearly ($99 monthly) for 50 prompts, 15 articles and 1 user
  • Basic: $199/month billed yearly for 100 prompts, 25 articles and 2 users
  • Growth: $399/month billed yearly for 200 prompts, 50 articles, 3 users and sentiment
  • Enterprise is custom and tracks nine AI platforms. You can start free without a card.

8. MarketMuse: best for topic strategy

MarketMuse topic modeling

MarketMuse is a content strategy platform that models topic coverage across your whole site and scores content against it, which suits strategists who used Outranking's clustering and planning more than its writer. We haven't used MarketMuse ourselves, so this section is based on its pricing page and Capterra reviews.

Where Outranking sold clustering as a $79 Strategist add-on, MarketMuse is built around it. It inventories your site, shows topic authority and a personalized difficulty score for each topic, and tells you what to write or update next.

Its briefs and Optimize editor cover the writing side. It doesn't publish, and its pricing page doesn't list any AI search tracking.

Paid plans are sold by demo, so you won't see a price until you talk to sales. The site now calls it MarketMuse by Siteimprove.

Key features

  • Topic modeling and Inventory. Your site's topic coverage, authority and gaps.
  • Personalized Difficulty and Competitive Advantage. Difficulty scored for your own site, not a generic number.
  • Content Score and Optimize. Term coverage scored as you write.
  • Content briefs. 5 to 20 a month on paid plans, with nine brief types on Strategy.
  • Free plan with 1 user and 10 queries a month.

Where it falls short

  • No public prices on paid plans.
  • No AI visibility tracking listed.
  • No AI publishing workflow.

User reviews

“It's for serious content strategists. Analysis can take a while to come back, but it's doing heavy work on every query.” (Source)

“A great tool for producing quality content, but it's very expensive, which makes it a hard decision for a small business.” (Source)

“I went through three free trials and couldn't get past the glitches, including an ad panel that never went away.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Free: $0 for 1 user and 10 queries a month
  • Optimize: 1 user, 100 tracked topics and 5 briefs a month, price by demo
  • Research: 3 users, 1,000 tracked topics, 10 briefs and unlimited queries, price by demo
  • Strategy: 5 users, 10,000 tracked topics and 20 briefs, price by demo

9. Search Atlas: best for automation

Search Atlas dashboard

Search Atlas is an SEO platform that combines a content editor and AI writer, OTTO automated on-site fixes and, from its Growth plan, AI visibility tracking, which suits agencies and in-house teams that want Outranking's writing plus automation across the rest of SEO. We haven't used Search Atlas ourselves, so this section is based on its pricing page, product pages, press releases and Trustpilot reviews.

Content Genius is the part Outranking users will recognize: briefs, drafts and optimization, now handled more and more by its Atlas Agent since Content Genius V5 in September 2026.

OTTO is the bigger difference. You add a pixel, and it deploys on-page and technical fixes on its own, or waits for approval if you turn approval mode on.

Everything draws from one pool of Universal Credits, from articles to rank checks. AI tracking isn't on Starter. Growth adds ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Mode, and Pro adds Copilot, Perplexity and Claude.

Key features

  • Content Genius and Atlas Agent. Briefs, drafts and optimization, about 50 premium AI articles a month on Starter.
  • OTTO SEO. Automated on-site fixes through a pixel, with an optional approval mode.
  • LLM Visibility. 100 queries on ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Mode from Growth, six platforms on Pro.
  • Rank tracking and site audits. 2,000 tracked keywords and 50,000 audit pages on Starter.
  • Publishing to any CMS, including WordPress, Shopify and Webflow.

Where it falls short

  • No AI visibility tracking on the $99 Starter plan.
  • One shared credit pool for everything, from articles to rank checks.
  • Trustpilot reviews are mixed on support.

User reviews

“I left Semrush because it got too expensive and wouldn't do what I needed. Search Atlas does all of it and more.” (Source)

“Haven't explored half the features and I'm already impressed.” (Source)

“The product keeps improving, but support drags simple problems out for weeks.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Starter: $99/month for 1 project, 1 seat and 50,000 Universal Credits, with no AI visibility tracking
  • Growth: $199/month for 2 projects, 3 seats, 120,000 credits and 100 AI queries on ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Mode
  • Pro: $399/month for 4 projects, 5 seats, six AI platforms and white-label reports
  • Agency starts at $999/month. Every plan has a 7-day trial and free onboarding.

10. Byword: best for bulk articles

Byword is an AI article writer that researches a keyword, writes a long-form article in your brand voice and publishes it to your CMS, priced per article from $99 a month for 25, which suits programmatic SEO and bulk content where Outranking's one-document-at-a-time editor was too slow. We haven't used Byword ourselves, so this section is based on its pricing page, changelog and Trustpilot reviews.

Byword relaunched in January 2026 as v2, rebuilt from the ground up with a new AI engine and research system. You can write one article at a time, or use its programmatic SEO templates to generate pages in bulk.

Each article gets a real-time SEO score, and you can choose GPT, Claude or Gemini models. Articles publish to WordPress, Webflow and four other CMSs, or go out through webhooks, Google Docs, Sheets or Notion.

It doesn't track AI answers. Unused article credits carry over month to month, which is unusual for this kind of tool.

Key features

  • Article generation. Research, outline and draft in one step, in 47 languages.
  • Programmatic SEO. Templates plus keyword lists for pages at scale.
  • Smart optimization. Real-time SEO scoring with keyword and readability suggestions.
  • Voice matching. Basic on the free plan, full on paid plans.
  • CMS publishing to WordPress, Webflow, Ghost, HubSpot and more, plus an API from Standard.

Where it falls short

  • No AI visibility tracking.
  • Built for volume, so most articles still need an editor's pass.
  • Trustpilot reviews include CMS connection problems and refund disputes.

User reviews

“I published about 25 articles of 2,000 to 3,000 words, and many ranked and got traffic within a few weeks. Support was quick to fix bugs.” (Source)

“Impossible to get a refund and very buggy. My articles included links to my competitors.” (Source)

“My web host blocked its WordPress connection, and they wouldn't refund me after I'd paid.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Starter: $99/month ($83 billed yearly) for 25 articles and 5 domains, solo use
  • Standard: $299/month ($249 billed yearly) for 80 articles, 3 seats, unlimited domains and API access
  • Scale: $999/month ($833 billed yearly) for 300 articles and 10 seats
  • Every account starts with 5 free articles and no card. Unused credits carry over.

What changed with Outranking in 2026

Outranking had a rough 2026. Here's what we could confirm from archived copies of its pages, two reviews that checked it during the year, and our own check.

  • November 2025: the pricing page listed Starter at $19 a month for 4 SEO documents, SEO Writer at $79 for 15 and SEO Wizard at $159 for 30. AI first drafts needed a separate AI credits add-on from $49, and clustering a $79 Strategist add-on.
  • May 2026: an archived copy shows the site working normally.
  • July 2026: a review published on July 21 found outranking.io showing a hosting placeholder page for days, with its pricing pages returning errors.
  • September 2026: the site came back as a rebuilt copy of the old pages. Its pricing page now listed Starter at $1,500 a month, SEO Writer at $3,000 and SEO Wizard at $5,000 ($1,125, $2,250 and $3,750 billed yearly), with the same 4, 15 and 30 documents. Nothing explains the change, and we couldn't confirm whether those prices are real.
  • October 25, 2026: when we checked, both outranking.io and the apps.outranking.io login returned a Cloudflare 521 error, which means the server behind the site isn't responding.
  • Reviews: its Trustpilot page has 2 reviews and none in the past 12 months.

If you still have an Outranking account and can log in, export your documents. Outranking isn't the same as Outrank (outrank.so), a separate AI content product.
