Clearscope alternatives are worth a look if you want more AI engines for the money, an editor that also writes and publishes, or agents that run more of the work. Clearscope costs $129 a month for Essentials, down from $189 in 2025, with unlimited users, 20 drafts and 50 tracked queries across ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude. It grades content and shows where you're missing from AI answers, but it doesn't publish or refresh pages for you.
These 10 Clearscope alternatives include content editors, brief tools, AI writers and an agentic AI search platform. Prices checked in November 2026.
How we compared these Clearscope alternatives
Clearscope is a content grader with AI tracking added, so we judged each alternative on both sides:
- How the editor, briefs or writer work, and how many seats you get
- Which AI engines the entry plan tracks, and how often
- Whether it publishes or refreshes content, and the real monthly cost
Of these tools, we've only used Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit hands-on. Clearscope, Surfer, Frase, NEURONwriter, MarketMuse, Content Harmony, Dashword, PageOptimizer Pro, the SEO Writing Assistant and Scalenut aren't on our tested list, so we describe them from pricing pages, docs, archived pricing pages and user reviews. Quotes are condensed from Capterra, Trustpilot and WordPress.org and link to the original.
Orchly is our product. We held it to the same checks and say where it falls short. Checked November 2026.

1. Orchly: best Clearscope alternative to publish content AI engines cite
Orchly is an agentic AI search optimization platform. It tracks your brand every day in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, with Gemini, Google AI Mode, Claude, Grok and Microsoft Copilot as paid add-ons (it also tracks Meta AI and DeepSeek), and its agents run on their own, on a schedule.
They analyze your AI visibility, your competitors, your SEO and your Search Console and GA4 data, decide what to write and which pages to refresh, and write and refresh them in your brand voice. They keep Brand Brain up to date, find the sites, people and Reddit threads worth reaching, run the outreach and draft the replies, and audit your site for technical SEO and AI search issues with the fixes ranked. You decide whether each agent runs on its own or waits for your approval.
Clearscope gives you a grade, a set of tracked queries and a to-do list for your writers. Orchly's agents run the work end to end, from $49 a month.
Content, chosen and published
- Content Agent. Runs on a schedule, uses Search Console decay and AI citation gaps to decide what to write and which pages to refresh, then the AI article writer drafts each one in your brand voice. Essential includes 20 articles created or refreshed a month, as many as Clearscope's 20 drafts, for $49 against $129.
- Brand Brain. Your products, pricing, audience and voice, kept up to date automatically and used in every draft.
- Publishing. Drafts go, directly or after your approval, to WordPress, Webflow, Framer, Wix, Sanity or Ghost.
AI visibility across more engines
- Daily tracking. ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews, with Gemini, AI Mode, Claude, Grok and Copilot as add-ons (Orchly also tracks Meta AI and DeepSeek).
- Query fan-outs. Like Clearscope, Orchly shows the searches AI runs behind an answer, next to your visibility on each prompt.
- Mention Gap and perception. Cited sources that skip you, and how AI describes you.
SEO data, outreach and fixes
- Search Console, GA4 and rank tracking. Clicks, conversions and revenue, plus a Google rank tracker, next to your AI visibility.
- Activation and Site Health agents. Find the publishers, people and Reddit threads AI cites, run the outreach and draft the replies, and audit your site for technical SEO and AI search issues with the fixes ranked.
Where Orchly falls short
- No letter-grade editor. Clearscope grades drafts term by term as you write, including in Google Docs. Orchly writes and refreshes content for you instead.
- Fewer seats. Clearscope includes unlimited users. Orchly Pro includes 5.
- Claude is an add-on. Clearscope includes Claude tracking on every plan. On Orchly, Claude is one of the paid add-ons.
Orchly pricing
- Essential: $49/month for 25 prompts, 20 articles, 1 site and 1 user
- Pro: $125/month for 100 prompts, 50 articles, 3 sites and 5 users, with AI traffic analytics, custom agents and white-label reports
- Enterprise: custom, with a customer success manager
- There's a 7-day free trial, and yearly billing saves 25%.

2. Surfer: best live editor
Surfer is a content optimization platform built around a live Content Editor and Content Score, with AI visibility tracking from its Standard plan, which suits writers who want to optimize while they type. We haven't used Surfer ourselves, so this section is based on its pricing page, help docs and Trustpilot reviews.
The editor works a lot like Clearscope's grader, only more hands-on. The score moves as you add the terms, headings and questions the top pages cover, and you can work in Surfer, Google Docs or WordPress.
AI tracking is where the two differ most. Surfer Standard checks 25 prompts on ChatGPT once a week, and Pro checks 50 prompts every day on ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Mode, AI Overviews and Gemini. Clearscope tracks ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude on every plan.
Seats are the other trade-off. Clearscope gives you unlimited users, while Surfer includes 1 seat on Discovery, 3 on Standard and 5 on Pro.
Key features
- Content Editor and Content Score. Live scoring against top results, with Google Docs, WordPress and Contentful integrations.
- AI visibility tracking. 25 weekly ChatGPT prompts on Standard, 50 daily prompts on five engines on Pro.
- AI Search Analytics plan. Tracking only, with Mention Gap and sentiment, for $82 a month billed yearly.
- Search Console connection. Page tracking, rank drop detection and content ideas.
- Surfy and the Humanizer. An AI writing assistant plus an AI detector and humanizer.
Where it falls short
- No Claude, Grok or Copilot on any plan.
- The $49 Discovery plan has no AI tracking.
- Seats are capped by plan, unlike Clearscope's unlimited users.
User reviews
“It tells me what I need to rank an article, and the keyword clusters help me find what my audience is looking for.” (Source)
“The user experience is good, but AI tools now do a lot of what Surfer does.” (Source)
“Pay per article and it's too expensive. Buy in bulk and you always end up paying for more credits than you need, with no extensions any more.” (Source)
Pricing
- Discovery: $49/month billed yearly for 120 documents and 1 seat, with no AI tracking
- Standard: $99/month billed yearly for 360 documents, 3 seats and 25 weekly ChatGPT prompts
- Pro: $182/month billed yearly for 50 daily prompts on five AI engines and 5 seats
- AI Search Analytics: $82/month billed yearly for tracking only. Monthly billing costs more, and Enterprise is custom.
3. Frase: best budget full workflow
Frase is an agentic SEO and GEO content platform that researches, writes, publishes and refreshes pages from $39 a month billed yearly, which suits small teams that want Clearscope-style scoring plus the writing and publishing. We haven't used Frase ourselves, so this section draws on its pricing page, changelog, archived pricing pages and Trustpilot reviews.
Frase rebuilt its platform in early 2026. One agent now runs research, drafting, optimization and publishing to WordPress, Webflow, Wix, Sanity or its own FraseCMS, and Content Guard watches live pages for decay and drafts fixes for you to approve.
Clearscope grades the drafts your writers produce. Frase writes 10 articles a month on Starter and scores them for both SEO and GEO, at a lower price.
The AI tracking is smaller at entry. Starter tracks 20 prompts on ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, Perplexity arrives on Professional, and Claude and Gemini need the $239 Scale plan.
Key features
- Frase agent. Research, writing, optimization and publishing from plain-language requests.
- SEO and GEO scores. Every draft is scored for Google and for AI citation.
- Content Guard. Watches 10 to 300 live pages and drafts fixes when they slip.
- AI Visibility. 20, 50 or 75 tracked prompts, with recommendations, sentiment and PDF reports since October 2026.
- API, MCP server and CLI on every plan, plus free blog hosting on FraseCMS.
Where it falls short
- 1 seat on Starter and 3 on Professional, against Clearscope's unlimited users.
- Claude and Gemini tracking only on Scale.
- Some lifetime-deal customers say the 2026 rebuild left them behind.
User reviews
“It's helped me scale content. I can see how each piece measures up on SEO, GEO and E-E-A-T scores, and the AI Visibility suite shows how often we're cited.” (Source)
“Easy to navigate, but in a very competitive market I didn't see any benefit from the content it generated.” (Source)
“After years as a lifetime customer, the rebuild went behind a new subscription and we were told the old version still works.” (Source)
Pricing
- Starter: $39/month billed yearly ($49 monthly) for 1 seat, 10 articles and 20 tracked prompts
- Professional: $103/month billed yearly ($129 monthly) for 3 seats, 40 articles, 50 prompts and Perplexity
- Scale: $239/month billed yearly ($299 monthly) for 5 seats, 100 articles, 75 prompts, Claude and Gemini
- Every plan has a 7-day free trial with no card, and Enterprise is custom.
4. NEURONwriter: best cheap grading
NEURONwriter is a low-cost NLP content editor that scores drafts against the top results from $23 a month and adds a small AI visibility tracker, which suits freelancers and bloggers who find Clearscope too expensive. We haven't used NEURONwriter ourselves, so this section is based on its pricing page, FAQ and Capterra reviews.
The editor does the same job as Clearscope's grader. You pick a keyword and the competitor pages to learn from, and NEURONwriter suggests terms, questions and a target score, with AI templates for drafting and rewriting.
The AI tracking covers Google first. Every plan monitors 5 to 20 questions in AI Overviews and AI Mode, and ChatGPT and Perplexity need the Advanced add-on, from $9 a month.
Team use starts on Gold at $69. That's where unlimited team members, Search Console, WordPress and Shopify integrations and the API come in, still well under Clearscope's $129.
Key features
- NLP content editor. Term and question suggestions from the competitor pages you choose.
- AI Visibility Standard. 5 to 20 monitored questions in AI Overviews and AI Mode, by plan.
- AI Visibility Advanced add-on. Adds ChatGPT and Perplexity from $9 a month.
- Content Designer and AI credits. Drafts and rewrites, with 15,000 to 45,000 AI credits from Bronze to Gold.
- Integrations from Gold. Search Console, WordPress, Shopify, API and MCP.
Where it falls short
- ChatGPT tracking is an add-on on every plan, and there's no Claude.
- Bronze and Silver have no Search Console or WordPress connection.
- No agent that writes, publishes or refreshes pages for you.
User reviews
“I write about 65 SEO pieces a month for clients. After switching to NEURONwriter my content ranks even higher, and my clients are happier.” (Source)
“Second only to Surfer, and the best value. It still badly needs image stats, which competitors already have.” (Source)
“Top of page 2 in under a week, but an intrusive webinar popup appears every time I open the editor.” (Source)
Pricing
- Bronze: $23/month for 2 projects, 25 documents and 5 AI-monitored questions
- Silver: $45/month for 5 projects, 50 documents and 7 questions
- Gold: $69/month for 10 projects, 75 documents, 10 questions, unlimited team members and integrations
- Yearly billing gives 2 months free, and the 7-day free trial runs on Gold.
5. MarketMuse: best for topic strategy
MarketMuse is a content strategy platform, now part of Siteimprove, that inventories your whole site and scores topics on personalized difficulty and topic authority, which suits strategists deciding what to write next rather than grading single drafts. We haven't used MarketMuse ourselves, so this section draws on its pricing page, Siteimprove announcements and Capterra reviews.
Clearscope tells a writer how complete one draft is. MarketMuse looks at every page you have, works out where your site is strong, and tells you how hard each topic is for you in particular.
It doesn't track AI answers. Siteimprove added AEO insights to its separate Siteimprove.ai Search product in April 2026, but MarketMuse's own plans list briefs, inventory and strategy documents only.
Paid plans need a demo, with no prices on the page. The free plan gives 1 user 10 queries a month to try the research tools.
Key features
- Site inventory. Pages, topics and page and topic pairs, updated on their own.
- Personalized Difficulty and Topic Authority. How hard a topic is for your site, and where you're strong.
- Content Briefs. Up to nine brief types on Strategy, including comparison and listicle briefs.
- Content Score. A target score from MarketMuse's topic model for each focus topic.
- Strategy documents. 1, 3 or 5 a month, by plan.
Where it falls short
- No AI visibility tracking in MarketMuse itself.
- No published prices for paid plans.
- 1 to 5 users by plan, against Clearscope's unlimited users.
User reviews
“The target score, average score and content score are really helpful. Sometimes the keyword suggestions don't fit the topic.” (Source)
“Optimization draws on far more than the top 20 results, and it's the best I've used. I just find the credits too expensive for outlines.” (Source)
“I tried the AI writing and got gibberish that wasn't close to usable.” (Source)
Pricing
- Free: 1 user and 10 queries a month
- Optimize: demo only, 1 user, 100 tracked topics and 5 briefs a month
- Research: demo only, 3 users, 1,000 tracked topics and 10 briefs a month
- Strategy: demo only, 5 users, 10,000 tracked topics and 20 briefs a month
6. Content Harmony: best for briefs
Content Harmony is a content brief tool priced by how many pieces you publish, from $50 a month for 5 content workflows with unlimited users, which suits agencies that brief outside writers and liked Clearscope's unlimited seats. We haven't used Content Harmony ourselves, so this section is based on its pricing page, product updates and Capterra reviews.
Each workflow bundles a keyword report, a content brief and a content grader for one page. Credits roll over for 90 days, so a slow month doesn't waste them.
It's narrower than Clearscope now. There's no AI visibility tracking, no full-article writer and no publishing, though keyword reports show the AI Overviews that appear in results.
The $10 trial is an easy way to test it. It buys 10 workflows with no time limit and no automatic billing.
Key features
- Content workflows. Keyword report, brief and grader for each page you plan.
- Search intent analysis. SERP features and AI Overviews inside each keyword report.
- AI Suggested Headings. Outline ideas you can accept into the brief.
- Unlimited users and projects on every plan.
- Rollover credits. Monthly credits stay valid for 90 days.
Where it falls short
- No AI visibility tracking.
- No full-article writer or CMS publishing.
- Pricing climbs with volume, to $299 a month for 50 workflows.
User reviews
“The best workflow I've found for researching and outlining with publishers. We picked it over MarketMuse and Surfer for cost and simplicity.” (Source)
“It saves me hours of brief-building every week. The Content Grader gets slow if you write in it, so I write in Docs and paste in.” (Source)
“There are few countries to choose from, so I sometimes have to pick one I didn't want.” (Source)
Pricing
- Standard 5: $50/month (about $42 billed yearly) for 5 content workflows
- Standard 12: $99/month for 12 workflows
- Standard 25: $199/month for 25 workflows, with larger plans up to 150 and Enterprise from $1,000
- The trial is $10 for 10 workflows, with no time limit.
7. Dashword: best lightweight editor
Dashword is a lightweight content brief and optimization tool with free, unlimited content scoring and an API and MCP server on every plan, which suits small teams that want Clearscope-style grading their AI agents can call directly. We haven't used Dashword ourselves, so this section is based on its pricing page and product pages.
The pitch has shifted toward AI agents. Dashword researches the pages ranking for a keyword, hands the brief to Claude, Cursor or Codex over MCP, and scores each draft until it's ready. Only reports use credits, so scoring itself is free.
After publishing, it keeps watch. Dashword imports your pages with its crawler, tracks rankings, reruns keyword reports weekly and alerts you when a page loses traffic.
It doesn't track AI answers. There's no ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude monitoring on the site, which Clearscope now includes on every plan.
Key features
- Content briefs. Competitor outlines, keywords and questions in one builder you can share with writers.
- Content scoring. Free and unlimited, plus a Google Docs add-on.
- Content monitoring. Traffic-drop alerts, weekly keyword reports and a rank tracker.
- AI Writer. 100,000 words on Startup.
- API and MCP server on every plan, including free accounts.
Where it falls short
- No AI search visibility tracking.
- 30 reports a month on Startup, and Business starts at $349.
- No CMS publishing.
User reviews
We couldn't find recent Dashword reviews on Capterra, Trustpilot or Product Hunt to quote.
Pricing
- Startup: $99/month for 30 content reports, 5 seats and 100,000 AI Writer words
- Business: from $349/month for 100 reports, 10 seats, bulk reports and SSO
- Your first report is free with no card, and yearly billing saves 20% if you ask.
8. PageOptimizer Pro: best for technical on-page SEO
PageOptimizer Pro (POP) is an on-page SEO tool built on ranking-factor tests that tells you exactly where to place keywords, variations and entities, and it includes an AI Visibility Tracker on every plan, which suits technical SEOs who want more detail than Clearscope's grade. We haven't used POP ourselves, so this section draws on its pricing page, product pages and Capterra reviews.
POP's reports go further than a letter grade. You get keyword counts by page section, word count targets, E-E-A-T signals, Google NLP entities and schema suggestions, and Watchdog warns you when a page changes or slips.
The AI Visibility Tracker covers ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity. Each run costs 3 credits plus 1 per question, refreshed once, weekly or monthly.
Credits are what to watch. Basic includes 20 a month, a new report costs 2 and the AI writer 3 per 1,000 words, so the Unlimited plan is the realistic starting point.
Key features
- POP Rank Engine reports. Exact keyword, variation and LSI placement for each page.
- AI Visibility Tracker. ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity, paid in credits.
- POP AI Writer. New pages or rewrites, cheaper in credits with your own OpenAI key.
- Watchdog. Monitors 10, 200 or 500 pages for changes and drops.
- Chrome extension for editing in Google Docs, WordPress and other editors.
Where it falls short
- Credits run out fast on Basic.
- Recommendations target Google rankings first.
- Sub-accounts only on Teams, against Clearscope's unlimited users.
User reviews
“Simple, easy to use and methodical. You can start improving content from day one.” (Source)
“Easy to use and the data helps our on-page edits, but the AI writer is very repetitive and I shouldn't have to keep fixing that.” (Source)
“It's a lot to learn, and the credits disappear very fast.” (Source)
Pricing
- Basic: $40/month for 20 credits and 10 Watchdog pages
- Unlimited: $72/month, or $62 billed yearly, for unlimited POP reports and 50 credits
- Teams: $143/month, or $119 billed yearly, for 120 credits, 5 sub-accounts and white-label PDFs
- Every plan has a 7-day refund guarantee, and extra credits start at $15 for 10.
9. Semrush SEO Writing Assistant: best for Semrush users
The Semrush SEO Writing Assistant is a content scoring add-on for Google Docs, WordPress and Microsoft Word that grades drafts on SEO, readability, originality and tone using Semrush's keyword data, which suits teams already paying for Semrush who want a Clearscope-style check without another subscription.
We've used Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit for other reviews, but not the Writing Assistant, so this section is based on the Semrush help center and the plugin's WordPress.org reviews.
It works in the same places Clearscope does. You open the add-on next to your draft and it scores the text against your target keywords, with suggestions for terms, readability and tone.
Limits depend on your Semrush plan. The help center still lists them under the older plan names, with 2 documents per account on Pro and unlimited documents on Guru and Business.
AI visibility sits in a separate toolkit. When we tested the AI Visibility Toolkit, Prompt Research was the part we used most, but 25 prompts per domain at $99 a month felt tight.
Key features
- Real-time scoring. SEO, readability, originality and tone of voice for each draft.
- Add-ons for Google Docs, WordPress and Microsoft Word 365.
- Keyword recommendations from Semrush's database for your target keywords.
- Compose, Rephrase and Ask AI. AI writing tools that use Smart Writer Words.
- Plagiarism checker. 3 checks in total on Pro, 5 or 10 a month on higher tiers.
Where it falls short
- Scores against Google results, with no AI answer data in the editor.
- 2 documents per account on the entry tier, per the help center.
- AI writing allowances are small on the entry tier, 500 Smart Writer Words in total.
User reviews
“I already have a Semrush account, so this saves me jumping between WordPress and Semrush. Very handy for updating old posts.” (Source)
“The basic option can only be run once, and the paid plan is expensive. I'd rather pay a small fee for just this.” (Source)
“Far too expensive for what it does.” (Source)
Pricing
- SEO plan: $139/month, or $117.33 billed yearly
- Semrush One Starter: $199/month with 50 AI prompts, or $299 for Pro+ with 100
- AI Visibility Toolkit: $99/month per domain, billed yearly
- Semrush has a free plan with limited data, and paid plans start with a 7-day trial.
10. Scalenut: best budget bundle
Scalenut is an AI content platform that bundles GEO article writing, content optimization, weekly AI visibility tracking and WordPress or Shopify publishing from $59 a month, which suits small teams that want articles written as well as graded. We haven't used Scalenut ourselves, so this section is based on its pricing page and Trustpilot reviews.
Starter writes 5 GEO articles, optimizes 5 existing ones and tracks 10 prompts in ChatGPT and AI Overviews. Plus at $89 adds auto-publishing, internal linking and Social Upreach, which watches subreddits for threads to join.
Next to Clearscope it does more of the writing for less money, but the tracking is lighter. Prompts refresh weekly on every plan, and Perplexity only arrives on Professional at $199.
There's a Black Friday early access deal on the page right now, 65% off yearly plans with triple limits, but it's non-refundable and annual only. Several Trustpilot reviewers complain about billing and support.
Key features
- GEO article writer. 5, 30 or 75 articles a month, and the same number of optimizations.
- AI visibility tracking. 10, 25 or 100 prompts, refreshed weekly.
- Auto-publish to WordPress and Shopify, from Plus.
- Social Upreach. Keywords, subreddits and competitors to watch on Reddit, from Plus.
- GEO content audit and cannibalization analysis. 200 to 1,000 pages a month.
Where it falls short
- Weekly AI tracking on every plan.
- Perplexity only on Professional, and no Claude or Gemini.
- Starter has one workspace and no auto-publishing.
User reviews
“The real-time SEO score is the feature I use most for fine-tuning, and the content briefs pull together everything similar articles cover.” (Source)
“I sent several emails and never got a single reply. Live chat said someone would follow up by email, and days later nobody had.” (Source)
“Five emails a day just feels like begging.” (Source)
Pricing
- Starter: $59/month for 10 prompts, 5 articles and 1 workspace
- Plus: $89/month for 25 prompts, 30 articles, 2 workspaces and 4 team members
- Professional: $199/month for 100 prompts, Perplexity, 75 articles and unlimited workspaces
- 7-day free trial with no card. The current yearly deal is $21, $31 or $70 a month, non-refundable.
Clearscope pricing in 2026
- Essentials: $129/month for 50 tracked queries, 50 pages, 20 Discoveries and 20 Drafts
- Business: $399/month for 300 tracked queries, 300 pages, 50 Discoveries, 20 Drafts and a dedicated account manager
- Enterprise: custom, with custom credits, crawler whitelisting and SSO
- All plans: unlimited users and projects, a 14-day free trial and no contract. Extra drafts cost $50 per 10 on Essentials and $20 per 10 on Business.
Comparison pages that quote $189 for Essentials are out of date. That was the price until autumn 2025, when Clearscope cut it to $129.
What changed with Clearscope in 2026
Clearscope has changed its plans and its AI tracking several times since late 2025. Here's what's different, with dates from Clearscope's blog and archived copies of its pricing page.
- Autumn 2025, Clearscope 2.0: a new Essentials plan at $129 a month, down from $189, with AI tracked topics, Topic Explorations, AI drafts and search intent summaries. Extra drafts dropped to $5 on Essentials and $2 on Business.
- June 2026: the pricing page started describing prompt tracking across ChatGPT and Gemini.
- July 2026: tracking moved from 20 topics to 50 tracked prompts on Essentials and 300 on Business, at the same prices.
- Late summer 2026: a 14-day free trial and a "Start for free" signup replaced the old "Start now" and "Request demo" buttons.
- By September 2026: Clearscope's product pages listed Claude alongside ChatGPT and Gemini. Its launch post says tracking starts at $0.65 per query, with up to five competitor domains and a rolling average of the 21 latest answers. The pricing page still lists only ChatGPT and Gemini.
- October 2026: tracked prompts became Tracked Queries, and Topic Explorations became Discoveries.
