10 Best Gumshoe AI Alternatives in 2026 (Compared)

Gumshoe AI alternatives are worth a look if you like persona-based AI visibility tracking but want answers from the chat apps buyers actually use, or data that refreshes more often than once a month. Gumshoe builds buyer personas for your market and asks every prompt as each of them, from $99 a month per project. It collects answers through official model APIs, runs 6 of the 12 model families it tracks in each audit, and refreshes its full Visibility Audit monthly.

These 10 Gumshoe alternatives track the real interfaces daily, cover more engines, or act on what they find. Prices checked in November 2026.

Editor's note

How we checked these Gumshoe alternatives

We used Scrunch, Peec AI, Otterly.AI, Profound, Rankscale, Promptmonitor and SE Visible on their trials, ran the same buyer prompts through each and looked at:

  • Where the answers come from, the chat apps or model APIs, and how often they refresh
  • Engines, prompts and personas on the plan you can buy
  • Whether the tool acts on what it finds, and what it costs each month

We haven't used Gumshoe, so we describe it from its pricing page, FAQ, methodology page and archived copies of its pricing. Am I On AI comes from its website, and AthenaHQ needed a sales call, so it comes from its docs and reviews. Review quotes are condensed from G2, OMR Reviews, Product Hunt and Trustpilot and link to the original.

Orchly is our product. We held it to the same checks and say where it falls short. Checked November 2026.

1. Orchly: best Gumshoe alternative to improve how AI describes your brand

Orchly AI visibility overview showing AI Visibility Score, Share of Voice, sentiment, average position and a competitor leaderboard
Orchly's AI visibility overview

Orchly is an agentic AI search optimization platform. It tracks your brand every day in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, with Gemini, Google AI Mode, Claude, Grok and Microsoft Copilot as paid add-ons (it also tracks Meta AI and DeepSeek), and its agents run on their own, on a schedule, across the whole loop.

They analyze your AI visibility, your competitors, your SEO and your Search Console and GA4 data. They find what to write and which pages to refresh and do it in your brand voice, keep Brand Brain up to date, find the sites, people and Reddit threads worth reaching, run the outreach and draft the replies, and audit your site for technical SEO and AI search issues, with the fixes ranked. You decide whether each agent runs on its own or waits for your approval.

Gumshoe gives you a monthly persona audit plus a short list of content pieces to generate. Orchly's agents run the work end to end, from $49 a month.

The data source differs too. Orchly captures answers from the actual ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews interfaces, while Gumshoe queries the model APIs. A Surfer study found that API answers and scraped interface answers named only 15.5% to 23.8% of the same brands.

Daily data from real interfaces

  • Daily, not monthly. Every prompt runs daily, so you see changes as they happen. Gumshoe's full Visibility Audit runs monthly, with smaller Snapshot Audits of 80 conversations weekly on Starter or daily on Pro.
  • Prompts by brand and intent. Branded vs non-branded, and commercial, informational or transactional, a practical stand-in for buyer stages.

Acting on what Gumshoe's audits recommend

  • Content, Activation and Site Health agents. Gumshoe's audits show the gaps and generate 3 or 10 content pieces a month, depending on plan. Orchly's agents run on a schedule without being asked. They write and refresh pages, run outreach to the sources AI cites, find Reddit threads and draft replies, and rank technical fixes on their own or with your approval.

Where Orchly falls short

  • No personas. Gumshoe asks every prompt as a set of buyer personas. Orchly segments prompts by brand type and intent instead.
  • Engine add-ons. Gemini, AI Mode, Claude, Grok and Copilot are paid add-ons. Gumshoe's default audit includes Claude, Gemini and Grok.

Orchly pricing

  • Essential: $49/month for 25 prompts, 20 articles, 1 site and 1 user
  • Pro: $125/month for 100 prompts, 50 articles, 3 sites and 5 users, with AI traffic analytics, custom agents and white-label reports
  • Enterprise: custom, with a customer success manager
  • There's a 7-day free trial, and yearly billing saves 25%.

2. Scrunch: best alternative with personas

Scrunch AI visibility dashboard

Scrunch is an AI visibility platform, owned by Sitecore since June 2026, that lets you track prompts by persona and see how AI crawlers read your site, from $250 a month. It suits teams that like Gumshoe's persona angle but want prompts checked far more often than once a month.

We used it on the 7-day trial. Setup is guided. Scrunch drafted a brand description from our site, we confirmed it, added competitors, a persona and our topics, and started from five suggested prompts.

Personas work differently from Gumshoe. Gumshoe builds a set of buyer personas and asks every prompt as each of them. Scrunch gives you 1 persona on Core and uses it to filter results, and Enterprise is priced to your setup.

The data side is stronger. Scrunch collects answers through browser automation or official APIs, depending on the platform, and new prompts run daily for 14 days, then every 72 hours. Agent Traffic, which shows the pages AI bots read once you connect your CDN, was the part we kept opening.

Key features

  • Personas. Results filtered by audience, with 1 persona on Core.
  • Core engines. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot, with 5,000 responses a month.
  • Agent Traffic. AI crawler visits by page, once your CDN or host is connected.
  • Site audits. 5 a month on Core.
  • GA4 AI referrals, enhanced in October 2026, plus an MCP server.

Where it falls short

  • 1 persona, 1 country and 1 language on Core.
  • Claude, Gemini, AI Mode, Grok and Meta AI are Enterprise only.
  • No content writing or publishing.
  • Prompts drop to a 72-hour cycle after the first two weeks.

User reviews

“We curate our own prompts from search demand data, so we trust that we're seeing something close to the real picture.” (Source)

“I'd like to see raw mention counts on the dashboard, not only percentages.” (Source)

“It needs four weeks of data as a baseline before we can show insights to a prospect, which slows down pitching.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Core: $250/month for 125 prompts, 4 engines, 1 persona, 5 user licenses and 5 site audits
  • Enterprise: custom, with 9 engines, custom prompts, AXP, API and SSO
  • Core has a 7-day free trial.

3. Am I On AI: best budget persona option

Am I On AI is a ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews tracker from Mindshare AI that adds audience segments on its $349 Prism plan, which suits ChatGPT-focused teams that want Gumshoe-style segments and a weekly to-do list. We haven't used Am I On AI ourselves, so this section is based on its pricing page and website.

Pro costs $100 a month for up to 150 prompts with citation data and personalized recommendations. Prism tracks 5 separate audience segments across up to 750 prompts, with citations and an action plan for each segment.

The trade-off is coverage. Every plan tracks only ChatGPT and AI Overviews, where Gumshoe's default audit runs six model families, Claude and Grok among them. Its site describes weekly reports and weekly action items rather than daily checks.

It is also no longer the cheap way into personas. Gumshoe's $99 Starter plan already runs every audit as a set of personas, so Am I On AI makes more sense if you want more prompts or the weekly action plan.

Key features

  • Audience segments. 5 on Prism, each with its own citations and action plan.
  • Up to 750 prompts on Prism, 150 on Pro.
  • Personalized recommendations built from your own ChatGPT answers, delivered weekly.
  • Content pillar tracking and full citation data on Pro.
  • API and an agency program.

Where it falls short

  • Only ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews on every plan.
  • Weekly reports rather than daily tracking.
  • GEO Council, the done-with-you tier at $2,500 a month, is fully booked with a waitlist.

User reviews

We found no user reviews of Am I On AI on G2, Product Hunt or OMR Reviews, so we have no quotes to share.

Pricing

  • Pro: $100/month for up to 150 prompts on ChatGPT and AI Overviews
  • Prism: $349/month for 5 audience segments and up to 750 prompts
  • GEO Council: $2,500/month, expert-led, currently waitlisted
  • Pro and Prism start with a 7-day free trial, with no commitment.

4. Peec AI: best daily tracker

Peec AI dashboard

Peec AI is an AI search analytics platform that runs your prompts every day through the engines' own interfaces, with unlimited seats from €85 a month. It suits teams that want daily data from what buyers actually see rather than a monthly audit built on APIs.

We signed up and had data within minutes. Peec read our site, suggested prompts, and visibility, position and sentiment against competitors filled in for each engine.

This is the clearest contrast with Gumshoe. Peec's docs say it uses UI scraping, interacting with each platform the way a real user does, while Gumshoe queries model APIs and replicates personalization with system messages.

Peec doesn't segment by persona, though. You can describe your buyers when it suggests prompts, but there's no persona breakdown in the reports. You also pick any 3 models per plan, and Claude, Grok and DeepSeek need Enterprise.

Key features

  • Daily UI-based tracking of visibility, position and sentiment.
  • Model choice. Any 3 of ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, AI Mode, AI Overviews and Naver AI, with Perplexity and other extra models from €25 a month.
  • Actions. Ranked owned and earned fixes from your data, since February 2026.
  • AI Referrals and Brand Perception. GA4 sessions, conversions and revenue from AI assistants, plus attribute scores, since September 2026.
  • Unlimited seats on every plan, and an MCP server.

Where it falls short

  • No persona segmentation.
  • 3 models per plan unless you pay for more.
  • No content writing, publishing or outreach.

User reviews

“Data started flowing the moment we signed up, with zero setup, and the MCP puts all of it where my other tools can reach it.” (Source)

“The navigation is noisy with options we don't use, and it shows how visibility is tracking without clear advice on how to improve it.” (Source)

“It's hard to attribute the actions we take to changes in our AI search results.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Starter: €85/month (about $95) for 50 prompts and 3 models
  • Pro: €205/month for 150 prompts
  • Advanced: €425/month for 350 prompts and multi-country tracking
  • Unlimited seats, a free trial, and 15% off with yearly billing.

5. Otterly.AI: best budget daily tracker

Otterly.AI dashboard

Otterly.AI is a low-cost AI search monitoring tool that checks every prompt daily on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot from $29 a month, which makes it the cheapest way to get daily data instead of Gumshoe's monthly audit.

We added our brand and Otterly built a competitor list and suggested prompts on its own. The first report was ready in about 15 minutes.

Its help center says it posts prompts through each AI search website, so answers match what your customers see, and it only uses an API for Claude. The Brand Visibility Index, which sorts brands into Leaders, Niche and Low Performance, was the view we opened most.

Lite is small, though. 15 prompts don't go far, the next plan is $189, and AI Mode, Gemini and Claude are paid add-ons. There are no personas either.

Key features

  • Four engines included. ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot, checked daily.
  • Brand Visibility Index. Leaders, Niche and Low Performance quadrants.
  • GEO URL audits. 1,000, 5,000 or 10,000 by plan.
  • Agent Analytics. AI crawler visits from your server logs, since August 2026.
  • Unlimited seats, plus a Looker Studio connector, API and MCP from Standard.

Where it falls short

  • 15 prompts on Lite, and GEO recommendations capped at 3 a week.
  • AI Mode, Gemini and Claude cost extra, so all 7 engines on Standard come to about $416 a month.
  • No personas, content writing or outreach.

User reviews

“The dashboard is clean, and we can see how content updates move our visibility without checking each AI platform by hand.” (Source)

“Lite doesn't have enough capacity for a growing workload, and the jump to €189 a month is a stretch for a small agency.” (Source)

“For detailed enterprise monitoring, the customization feels limited.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Lite: $29/month for 15 prompts
  • Standard: $189/month for 100 prompts
  • Premium: $489/month for 400 prompts
  • Yearly billing saves 15%, and the free trial needs no card.

6. Profound: best enterprise alternative

Profound answer engine insights dashboard

Profound is an enterprise AI visibility platform used by more than 1,000 brands, a third of the Fortune 100 among them, with personas, daily front-end tracking and AI Marketer agents. It suits large brands that want Gumshoe's persona view inside a much bigger platform.

We tested it on the 7-day trial. Profound chose 50 prompts for our industry, we couldn't change them, and only ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews ran. It showed us the product well and our own market less so.

On data, it sits on the other side from Gumshoe. Profound runs prompts daily through each engine's front-end interface, not its API. Its Personas feature runs a persona version of each prompt next to the base prompt, so you can compare answers by audience, and each persona adds prompt runs.

Buying it is harder than buying Gumshoe. Profound removed its $99 and $399 self-serve brand plans in September 2026, the month it raised a $180M Series D, so brands now go through sales.

Key features

  • Nine engines on Enterprise. ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Mode, Gemini, Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude, AI Overviews and Exa.
  • Personas. Persona versions of your prompts, compared in visibility and citations views.
  • Prompt Volumes. Demand estimates from more than 1.5 billion prompts in 35 countries, updated weekly.
  • AI Marketer. Agents that draft and publish content, set up from a plain-language request since October 2026.
  • Agent Analytics. AI crawler visits, with Search Console data in Pages since September 2026.

Where it falls short

  • No self-serve plan for brands.
  • The trial runs 50 preset prompts on three engines.
  • No Grok since Exa replaced it in September 2026.

User reviews

“The dashboards save a lot of time compared with checking several AI tools by hand, and they showed us gaps in how AI understands our products.” (Source)

“Topic tracking with daily updates is the standout, because AI rankings move fast.” (Source)

“We've built similar workflows in-house, so the pricing feels a bit high.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Brands: custom Enterprise pricing through sales
  • Agencies: a separate self-serve Agency Growth plan
  • Trial: 7 days free, with 50 preset prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews

7. AthenaHQ: best for many engines

AthenaHQ AI search visibility dashboard

AthenaHQ is a Y Combinator-backed AI search platform with a free plan and 11 AI models on its $295 Starter plan, which suits teams that want more engines than Gumshoe's default audit, AI Mode and Copilot included. AthenaHQ asked us to book a sales call before giving access, so this section is based on its pricing page, docs and G2 reviews.

Its docs say setup only needs a domain. AthenaHQ drafts a brand profile, suggests about 10 competitors and 10 prompts, and links each metric back to the stored answers.

Usage runs on credits, one per AI response. Starter's 3,600 credits a month go quickly across 11 engines, and there's nothing between the free plan and $295.

Personas are where it falls behind Gumshoe. They're on Enterprise only, together with multi-region tracking and the Athena Citation Engine.

Key features

  • 11 models on Starter, including AI Mode, Copilot, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral.
  • Free Essentials plan. 300 credits on ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, Gemini and Copilot.
  • Action Center and a content optimization agent, from Starter.
  • Sources view. Cited domains split into yours, competitors' and third parties'.
  • Unlimited seats on every plan.

Where it falls short

  • No plan between free and $295 a month.
  • Personas, multi-region tracking and BI exports are Enterprise only.
  • API access and extra credits cost extra on Starter.

User reviews

“The pricing is transparent. The plan covers what it says, we signed up, and we got exactly that.” (Source)

“The Action Center tells us which content to create or update.” (Source)

“The prompt library takes a few days to build because there are no industry templates, so you set up every query from scratch.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Essentials: free, with 300 credits on 5 engines
  • Starter: $295/month, about $245 billed yearly, for 3,600 credits on 11 engines
  • Enterprise: custom, with personas and multi-region tracking

8. Rankscale: best for flexible cadence

Rankscale AI visibility dashboard

Rankscale is a credit-based AI rank tracker with 21 engines and models and a schedule you set per search term, from hourly to monthly. It suits hands-on SEOs who want to decide how often each prompt runs instead of waiting for Gumshoe's monthly audit.

We used the 7-day Pro trial. A run on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or AI Mode costs 0.25 credits, DeepSeek 1 and Claude 2, so we checked our money prompts daily on several engines and the long tail weekly.

You can also pick the source. Rankscale offers interface-based models that simulate a neutral user and API-based models, so you can compare both, which Gumshoe doesn't let you do.

Honestly, the dashboards took us a while, and there are no personas. Client reporting is mostly something you build yourself, and Perplexity interface monitoring has been paused since October 12, 2026.

Key features

  • 21 engines and models, including ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, DeepSeek, Mistral and Grok.
  • Flexible schedule. Hourly, daily, weekly or monthly per search term.
  • Interface or API models, chosen per engine.
  • Unlimited search terms. Only runs use credits.
  • Page audits and an MCP server, with white-label options from Growth.

Where it falls short

  • Credits go quickly if you track many engines daily.
  • No personas, and client reporting is mostly manual.
  • Essentials is sold yearly only, and there's no content creation or outreach.

User reviews

“The insights were clear and actionable, and it made gaps in visibility and content structure easy to spot.” (Source)

“I spent way too many credits in the first week because I didn't understand the credit system yet.” (Source)

“It's missing some citation detail and the content creation features I found in other tools.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Essentials: $17/month, billed yearly only, for 120 credits
  • Pro: $99/month for 1,200 credits and 10 brand dashboards
  • Pro+: $229/month for 3,000 credits and REST API access
  • Growth: $385/month for 5,500 credits and white-label options. Pro has a 7-day free trial.

9. Promptmonitor: best cheap multi-engine tracker

Promptmonitor dashboard

Promptmonitor is a multi-engine AI visibility tracker that starts at $39 a month for ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity and covers 8 models on its $149 Pro plan. It suits small teams that want more frequent checks than Gumshoe's monthly audit at a lower price.

We used the 7-day trial. You add prompts and competitors, and the Sources report became the useful part, listing every cited URL with its model, count, first and last seen dates and publisher contacts, on all plans.

Plans differ more than the marketing copy suggests. The plan cards show Starter checking twice a week with 1 seat, while Growth and Pro run daily with unlimited seats. Claude and DeepSeek start on Growth, and Grok, AI Overviews and AI Mode on Pro.

The Actions suggestions felt dated in places, and the changelog has been quiet since March 2026. There are no personas.

Key features

  • Sources report. Cited URLs with model, count, first and last seen, and publisher contacts.
  • Engines by plan. 3 on Starter, 5 on Growth, all 8 on Pro.
  • Daily checks from Growth, twice weekly on Starter.
  • Unlimited seats from Growth.

Where it falls short

  • Starter has 3 engines, 1 seat and checks only twice a week.
  • Claude needs Growth, and Grok and AI Overviews need Pro.
  • No personas, and bot analytics needs middleware.

User reviews

Promptmonitor has no reviews on G2 or Capterra. These are the only two we found:

“My marketing team uses it to find more strategic ways to raise our product's visibility.” (Source)

“The project stayed stuck on loading, so no prompts were tracked, and I was charged after asking to cancel.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Starter: $39/month for 25 prompts, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, checked twice a week
  • Growth: $79/month for 50 prompts, 5 models, daily checks and unlimited seats
  • Pro: $149/month for 150 prompts and all 8 models
  • Yearly billing saves 15%, and there's a 7-day trial.

10. SE Visible: best for agencies

SE Ranking AI search visibility report

SE Visible is SE Ranking's standalone AI visibility tracker, with 200 prompts pooled across 3 projects, daily checks and unlimited users from $99. It suits agencies and multi-brand teams, since Gumshoe charges for each brand and focus area as its own project.

We used the 10-day trial. Setup asks for a brand name, up to five topics, and a country and language. After the first scan it suggested competitors and other names for our brand.

The pooled allowance is what makes it work for several brands. You spread prompts across projects however you like, and answers come from real browser sessions, so we could read each one as the engine gave it.

Engines hold it back. The plan cards list ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Mode and AI Overviews, Claude is still marked coming soon, and there's no Grok, which Gumshoe includes in its default audit.

Key features

  • Four engines. ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Mode and AI Overviews.
  • Pooled prompts. 200, 450 or 1,000 shared across 3, 5 or 10 projects.
  • Daily refresh through real browser sessions.
  • Competitor Gap Analysis. Sources that cite competitors but not you, since July 2026.
  • Unlimited users and an API on every plan.

Where it falls short

  • No Claude yet, and no Grok or Copilot.
  • No personas, and no PDF or white-label reports.
  • Tracking only, with no content drafting or outreach.

User reviews

SE Visible has no reviews on G2 or Capterra yet, so we have no user quotes to share.

Pricing

  • Basic: $99/month for 200 prompts and 3 projects
  • Core: $189/month for 450 prompts and 5 projects
  • Plus: $355/month for 1,000 prompts and 10 projects
  • Yearly billing saves 20%, and there's a 10-day free trial.

What changed with Gumshoe in 2026

Gumshoe changed its pricing twice this year and added four audits. Here's what we found on its site and in archived copies of its pricing page and homepage.

  • Pay as you go ended. From January until at least May 11, 2026, Gumshoe charged $0.10 per conversation, with the first report runs free. That rate now only applies to conversations past a plan's allowance.
  • Per-audit plans in June. By mid-June the homepage listed Basic at $49 and Standard at $99 per audit, billed weekly or monthly.
  • Per-project plans by October. Today Starter costs $99 and Pro $299 a month for each project, where a project is one brand plus one focus area, such as a product line. Both include 480 conversations per billing period.
  • Four new audits. Sentiment, Citation, Content and Technical audits sit next to the Visibility Audit. Sentiment, Citation and Content are Pro only. None of them were on the homepage in July.
  • More models. The FAQ now lists 12 model families from eight providers, Meta Muse Spark among them, up from 11. Each Visibility Audit runs six by default.
  • Methodology update (April). The methodology page explains that Gumshoe queries official model APIs, captures AI Overviews from live Google results and checks its results against the native interfaces.
  • New investor (March). GHARAGE Ventures, which grew out of travel retailer Gebr. Heinemann's venture activities, said it had invested in Gumshoe AI when it launched its €40 million Fund I.

What didn't change: answers come from APIs rather than the chat apps, the full Visibility Audit runs monthly, and there's no Google AI Mode or Microsoft Copilot tracking.

When to stay with Gumshoe

We haven't used Gumshoe ourselves. This is based on its pricing page, FAQ and methodology page.

Stay with Gumshoe if:

  • You want visibility broken down by buyer persona, with personas built for your market and every prompt asked as each of them.
  • You care about statistical confidence. Gumshoe publishes its method and says a standard audit measures overall visibility within 5 points at 95% confidence.
  • You want Claude and Grok in a $99 plan, with unlimited seats and no annual contract.
  • A monthly audit with weekly or daily snapshots fits your reporting cycle, and a free sample audit helps you pitch it internally or to clients.

User reviews

Gumshoe has four reviews on G2 with a 4.8 average. G2 blocked our attempts to read them, and we found none on Trustpilot, Capterra or Product Hunt, so we have no quotes to share.
