11 Best AI Citation Tracking Tools in 2026 (Compared)

The best AI citation tracking tools in November 2026 are Orchly, Profound, Peec AI and Ahrefs Brand Radar, with the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit, SE Visible, Otterly.AI, Promptwatch, Scrunch, LLMrefs and Knowatoa for narrower jobs and budgets. We judged all 11 on whether they show cited URLs and not just domains, how they split citations between you, competitors and third parties, whether they find source gaps, and how often the data refreshes.

AI citation tracking shows the exact pages and domains ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google's AI Overviews and other engines pull from when they answer questions in your space. That list tells you which pages to improve, which sites to pitch and which Reddit threads matter. Prices checked in November 2026.

Editor's note

How we checked these citation trackers

We've used Profound, Peec AI, Otterly.AI, Promptwatch, Scrunch, SE Visible and the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit on their trials, with the same buyer prompts. For this list we went back to each one's citation reports and pricing page and noted:

  • Whether you see cited URLs, not just domains, and who owns them
  • Whether there's a view of cited pages that name competitors but not you
  • How often the data refreshes on the plan you can buy, and what it costs

Ahrefs Brand Radar, LLMrefs and Knowatoa aren't on our tested list, so we went by their docs and pricing pages. Review quotes are condensed from G2 and link to the original.

Orchly is our product. We held it to the same checks and say where it falls short. Checked November 2026.

How we picked

Every tool here shows which pages and domains AI answers cite, not just whether your brand is mentioned. We checked each vendor's pricing page and docs in November 2026 and compared them on:

  • URL-level citations, since "Forbes cites your competitor" isn't something you can act on, and the exact article is.
  • Domain share and owner split, so you see how much of the cited web is yours, a rival's or a third party's.
  • A source-gap view. Cited pages that name competitors but not you.
  • Reddit and other UGC sources, which some engines lean on heavily.
  • Refresh rate and engines on the plan you'd actually buy.
  • What happens next, from a report you work through to agents that do the work.

1. Orchly: best for turning citation gaps into AI visibility with agents

Orchly citation analytics showing cited domains and URLs, citation share and source types across AI engines
Every page AI cites for your prompts, by URL or domain

Orchly is an agentic AI search optimization platform that tracks every page and domain ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews cite for your prompts, every day, through the engines' real interfaces rather than APIs, and then runs agents that work on the gaps. Gemini, Google AI Mode, Claude, Grok and Microsoft Copilot are paid add-ons, and it also tracks Meta AI and DeepSeek.

Its agents run on their own, on a schedule. They analyze your AI visibility, your competitors, your SEO and your Search Console and GA4 data, decide what to write and which pages to refresh, and do it in your brand voice. They keep Brand Brain up to date, find the sites, people and Reddit threads worth reaching, run the outreach and draft the replies, and audit your site for technical SEO and AI search issues with the fixes ranked. You decide whether each agent runs on its own or waits for your approval.

Most trackers on this list give you a citation report and a to-do list. Orchly's agents run the work end to end, from $49 a month.

See every source, down to the URL

  • Citations tab. Charts split citations by owner (your brand, competitors, others), by website type, such as news, Reddit, YouTube or wikis, and by content type, such as listicles, comparisons and how-tos.
  • Sources view. Every cited page, grouped by URL or rolled up by domain, with its content type, how often it's cited and whether your brand is on it.
  • Stored page captures. Orchly saves the text of each cited page, so you can read what the model drew on even after the page changes.

Our guide to tracking AI citations walks through each column.

Find the pages that name competitors but not you

  • Mention Gap. Orchly reads every cited page and records which brands it names. You get a grid of cited pages against brands, and can filter straight to pages that mention a rival and not you.

Mention Gap: cited pages that name competitors but skip you

A page AI cites often, where three competitors have a check and you don't, is usually the best place to start.

Understand why a page gets cited

  • Query fan-outs. AI engines run their own searches before they answer. Orchly shows those fan-out queries, so you can see which searches led to each cited page.

  • Page 360. For your own pages, AI citations sit next to Search Console clicks and GA4 conversions, so you know which cited pages bring in revenue.

Let agents work the gaps

  • Activation Agent. Lists pages AI already cites for your prompts and pages that link to your competitors but not you, drafts a short pitch for each, and sends it from your own Google Workspace, Zoho Mail or SMTP inbox, with follow-ups. Separate tabs cover Reddit and YouTube, and Reddit threads show how often AI answers cite them.

  • Content Agent. When the gap is your own content, it writes new pages or refreshes old ones in your brand voice and publishes them to your CMS, directly or after your approval.

More on how this works on our link building and outreach page.

Where Orchly falls short

  • Add-on engines. ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews are included. Gemini, AI Mode, Claude, Grok and Copilot cost extra, while LLMrefs and Promptwatch include every engine they track.
  • No market-wide index. Orchly tracks your prompts. To browse citations for any brand without setup, Ahrefs Brand Radar does that.
  • You post on Reddit yourself. The agent finds threads and drafts replies, but Orchly never posts to Reddit for you.

Orchly pricing

  • Essential: $49/month for 25 prompts refreshed daily, 1 site and 1 user
  • Pro: $125/month for 100 prompts, 3 sites and 5 users, with white-label reports
  • Enterprise: custom
  • There's a 7-day free trial, and yearly billing saves 25%.

See Orchly pricing or start a free trial.

2. Profound: best for enterprise citation analysis

Profound dashboard

Profound is an enterprise AI visibility platform that records every URL cited for each prompt it tracks and turns them into a citation share you can compare against competitors, which suits large brands with an analyst who will live in the data.

We ran the 7-day trial. You get 50 prompts that Profound picks for your industry, run daily on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, and you can't edit them. That's enough to see how the citation views work, but not to test your own buyer questions.

The citation data itself is the best part. Every cited source gets a category (Owned, Competitor, Earned Media, PR Wire, Social or Institution), and you can override the ones it gets wrong. The Citation Share chart moves day by day, and Watched Pages let you follow a single URL without digging through prompts.

In August 2026 Profound added a YouTube citation breakdown that ranks the channels and videos AI cites. Since September there are no self-serve brand plans, so after the trial it's an Enterprise contract or nothing.

Key features

  • Citation Share. Your share of citations against competitors, by platform, topic or prompt.
  • Citation categories. Owned, Competitor, Earned Media, PR Wire, Social and Institution, with manual overrides.
  • Watched Pages. Citation volume over time for any URL you pick.
  • YouTube Citation Breakdown. Cited channels, videos and video categories, since August 19, 2026.
  • AI Marketer agents that act on the data, with credits on every plan.

Where it falls short

  • No self-serve plan for brands, only the trial and custom Enterprise pricing.
  • The trial's prompts are preset, and history, exports and the API come with Enterprise.
  • Up to 9 engines, but only 3 on the trial.

User reviews

Most Profound reviews on G2 have been quoted in our other comparisons, so we kept this to two, focused on citations.

“It shows exactly where a brand appears in AI search, which competitors show up, which prompts drive it and which sources get cited.” (Source)

“I'd like more flexibility in how the data is segmented for different stakeholders.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Trial: free for 7 days, 50 preset prompts daily on ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews
  • Enterprise: custom, up to 9 answer engines, editable prompts, SSO
  • Both include unlimited seats. A separate self-serve Agency Growth plan exists for agencies.

3. Peec AI: best for separating retrieved sources from cited ones

Peec AI dashboard

Peec AI is an AI search analytics tool that separates the sources a model retrieved from the ones it actually cited in the answer, at both domain and URL level, which suits marketers who want clean daily source data on a self-serve plan.

We signed up and ran it on our usual buyer prompts. Setup took a few minutes, and the Sources section was where we spent most of our time.

Peec counts a page as a source when the model retrieves it and as a citation only when the answer uses it. That split tells you a lot. A page your competitors' answers keep reading but never citing needs a different fix from one that's never retrieved at all.

Gap Analysis runs on both the Domains and URLs views and ranks pages by Gap Score, roughly how many of your competitors a source names times how often AI uses it. Each domain gets a source type (Editorial, Corporate, UGC, Reference, Institutional, Competitor), and each URL a page type such as listicle or comparison.

Key features

  • Retrieved vs cited. Retrieval rate and citation rate per domain, not just a mention count.
  • Gap Score on domains and URLs, to rank outreach targets.
  • Source and URL types, including UGC, so Reddit-style sources are easy to isolate.
  • URL history. Which prompts keep retrieving and citing a page over time.
  • Actions and Peec Agent, which drafts briefs and page edits since October 22, 2026.

Where it falls short

  • You pick 3 models per plan, and Perplexity counts as an extra model.
  • Claude, Grok and DeepSeek are Enterprise only.
  • It ranks the outreach targets, but the pitching stays with you.

User reviews

Peec's G2 reviews have been quoted in most of our comparisons, so here are two, picked for what they say about sources.

“Peec shows where we appear across ChatGPT, Perplexity and the rest, where competitors appear instead, and which content actually gets cited.” (Source)

“It can be hard to tie the actions we take to changes in our AI search results.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Starter: €85/month ($95) for 50 prompts on 3 models, daily
  • Pro: €205/month ($245) for 150 prompts
  • Advanced: €425/month ($495) for 350 prompts
  • Unlimited seats on every plan. Extra models cost more, and there's a free trial.

4. Ahrefs Brand Radar: best for market-wide citation research

Ahrefs Brand Radar dashboard

Ahrefs Brand Radar is an AI visibility database with Cited Domains and Cited Pages reports for any brand or topic, built on hundreds of millions of prompts modeled from search data, which suits SEOs and agencies researching a market before they track anything.

Brand Radar isn't on our tested list, since there's no trial, so this section is based on Ahrefs' product pages, Academy lessons and API docs.

You don't set up prompts. You type a brand, a competitor or a topic, and the Cited Domains and Cited Pages reports show what the six AI platforms cite in those answers. That makes it the quickest way on this list to look at a market you don't track yet.

Gaps take a little work. Ahrefs' own lesson on citation gaps has you open Cited Pages and filter for pages that cite competitors but not your domain. Its API also marks your pages as cited, found but not cited, or not found.

Key features

  • Cited Domains and Cited Pages for any brand, competitor or topic, with no setup.
  • Six platforms: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, AI Overviews and AI Mode.
  • Found vs cited. Whether AI retrieved your pages and whether it used them, in the API.
  • Backlink and traffic data for every cited page, from the rest of Ahrefs.
  • Custom prompts on top of the index, refreshed daily to monthly.

Where it falls short

  • Index prompts are modeled from keywords, not your buyers' real questions.
  • The chatbot indexes are re-tested about monthly.
  • Claude is only available through custom prompts, and Grok tracking is paused.

User reviews

We found one Brand Radar review that talks about the data itself, and we've quoted it before.

“It covers several LLMs, countries and languages, but the metrics change retroactively every time the index updates.” (Source)

Pricing

  • One platform: $199/month
  • All six platforms: $699/month, including 2,500 custom prompt checks
  • Custom prompt packs from $50/month. You can buy Brand Radar on a free Ahrefs account, and there's no trial.

5. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit: best for Semrush users

Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit dashboard

The Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit is an add-on to the Semrush suite whose Source Opportunities report lists sites AI cites in answers that mention your competitors but not you, which suits teams already paying for Semrush.

We tried it on one domain. The Visibility Overview's Topics & Sources table is the part that matters for citations. It splits into Cited Sources (the sites AI uses), Source Opportunities (cited sites that name rivals and not you), Cited Pages (your own pages) and Topic Opportunities (content gaps).

Source Opportunities is close to a ready-made pitch list, and Semrush says plainly that it's meant for outreach. Having it inside the suite you already use for SEO is the main draw.

The limits show up quickly. The toolkit covers 25 prompts on one domain, and Perplexity only appears in the weekly Brand Performance reports, not in the daily prompt tracking.

Key features

  • Source Opportunities. Cited sites that mention competitors but not you.
  • Cited Sources and Cited Pages. The domains AI relies on, and which of your pages it cites.
  • Daily Prompt Tracking on ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews and Gemini.
  • Brand Performance, weekly, with share of voice and Perplexity.
  • The rest of Semrush next to it, from backlinks to keyword data.

Where it falls short

  • 25 prompts per domain on the base toolkit.
  • Every extra domain is another $99.
  • Claude, Grok and DeepSeek are only in Semrush Enterprise AIO.

User reviews

Reviews of the AI toolkit itself are scarce and we've quoted them often, so here are two short ones.

“Brand Performance gives clear share of voice, sentiment and citation tracking, but updates are mostly weekly.” (Source)

“It gives our AEO and GEO work a clear direction.” (Source)

Pricing

  • AI Visibility Toolkit: $99/month per domain, billed yearly, for 25 prompts
  • Semrush One Starter: $199/month with 50 prompts, plus the SEO suite
  • Semrush One Pro+: $299/month with 100 prompts
  • The free trial runs through Semrush One, not the standalone toolkit.

6. SE Visible: best value for multi-brand citation tracking

SE Visible dashboard

SE Visible, from SE Ranking, is an AI visibility tracker whose Sources view toggles between cited domains and URLs and shows a Coverage percentage for each, which suits small teams and agencies tracking a few brands on a budget.

We used it on the 10-day trial. The Sources table was the most useful screen. Each source shows its Coverage (the share of analyzed answers that cite it), how many answers and prompts it appears in, which of your tracked competitors it mentions, and a Gap score.

Two filters do the gap work for you. Set "Is my brand mentioned?" to No and you get every cited page without you. Add tracked competitors and it narrows to pages that name your rivals. Pages are sorted into 24 content types, from videos to forums.

SE Visible collects answers through a browser, not the APIs. It tracks ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Mode and AI Overviews, with Claude listed as coming soon and no Perplexity.

Key features

  • Domains and URLs in one toggle, with Coverage and a Gap score.
  • Brand-mention and competitor filters for cited pages without you.
  • 24 content types, including forums and video.
  • Sources API with domain trust, backlink and traffic data per source.
  • 200 prompts on the entry plan, pooled across 3 projects.

Where it falls short

  • No Perplexity, and Claude isn't live yet.
  • No PDF or white-label reports.
  • It shows you where to pitch, but finding contacts and outreach are on you.

User reviews

We couldn't find user reviews of SE Visible itself on G2 or Capterra. Reviews there cover the wider SE Ranking suite.

Pricing

  • Basic: $99/month for 200 prompts and 3 projects
  • Core: $189/month for 450 prompts and 5 projects
  • Plus: $355/month for 1,000 prompts and 10 projects
  • Yearly billing saves 20%, and there's a 10-day free trial.

7. Otterly.AI: best budget citation tracker

Otterly.AI dashboard

Otterly.AI is a low-cost AI search monitoring tool that tracks every cited domain and URL daily, with a flag for whether your brand appears on each page, from $29 a month, which suits small teams starting with citation tracking.

We signed up and added our brand. Otterly built the competitor list and suggested prompts, and the first report was ready in about 15 minutes.

The Citations report lists every cited URL with its citation count, a Yes or No for your brand, its domain category and the competitors on the page. Filter by Community/Forum or Social media and you see the Reddit threads and posts where rivals show up more than you. The July 2026 update added a Winners & Losers view of the biggest citation moves.

The domain view groups sources into categories like Brand, News/Media, Encyclopedia and Video. Lite's 15 prompts go quickly, though, and the next plan is $189.

Key features

  • Every cited URL, daily, with link position changes over time.
  • Brand-mention flag and competitors on each cited page.
  • Domain categories, including Community/Forum and Video.
  • Winners & Losers and Citation Details, since July 23, 2026.
  • Unlimited seats, plus API and MCP access from Standard.

Where it falls short

  • 15 prompts on Lite, then a jump to $189.
  • AI Mode, Gemini and Claude are paid add-ons.
  • Recommendations are capped at 3 a week on Lite, and outreach is on you.

User reviews

Otterly's G2 reviews have all been quoted in our other comparisons, so we kept this to two.

“The content checker is great for seeing how to improve a page for AI visibility.” (Source)

“Sometimes data updates take longer than I expect, especially when I track several domains at once.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Lite: $29/month for 15 prompts on ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot
  • Standard: $189/month for 100 prompts
  • Premium: $489/month for 400 prompts
  • Yearly billing saves 15%, and there's a free trial.

8. Promptwatch: best for Reddit citation detail

Promptwatch dashboard

Promptwatch is an AI visibility platform with dedicated reports for the Reddit threads, YouTube videos and LinkedIn posts AI cites, next to full URL and domain citation data, which suits brands whose category gets talked about on Reddit and YouTube.

We used the 7-day trial. You enter your URL, pick 5 prompts to start, and Promptwatch collects answers from the chatbots' own interfaces. Every plan tracks all of its models.

The Reddit report is the one we'd single out. Each cited post shows its subreddit, upvotes, comments, how often it's cited and its average position in the answer. The subreddit column tells you where to start. YouTube citations (videos and channels) arrived in March 2026, and in September you could filter all of it to the accounts your brand runs.

For other pages, citations come with URL positions over time and a content and source type. Offsite Mentions lists third-party pages that name you or competitors, even without a link. Content writing starts on the $245 plan.

Key features

  • Reddit report. Cited posts with subreddit, upvotes, comments, citations and position.
  • YouTube and LinkedIn reports, plus a My channels filter for your own accounts.
  • Citation Trends. First cited date, peak and decay per page, across 20 source types.
  • Offsite Mentions. Third-party pages that name your brand or rivals.
  • Crawler logs and content writing from Professional.

Where it falls short

  • Essential's 6,000 responses don't stretch to 50 prompts on every model every day.
  • Content writing and Agent Analytics start at $245.
  • It flags the threads worth joining, but it doesn't post or send outreach.

User reviews

“It gives us a better view of which pages matter most and whether our citations are going up.” (Source)

“Reddit citations are my main focus, and it's good value.” (Source)

“At first, the sheer number of features was overwhelming.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Essential: $95/month for 50 prompts and 6,000 responses, daily
  • Professional: $245/month for 150 prompts, content writing and Agent Analytics
  • Business: $579/month for 350 prompts, shopping insights and Ads Radar
  • 7-day free trial on Essential and Professional.

9. Scrunch: best for prioritizing sources

Scrunch dashboard

Scrunch is an AI search visibility platform that ranks every cited domain and URL by an Influence Score and splits citation share between your brand, competitors and third parties, which suits mid-size brands that want a prioritized source list.

We ran it on the 7-day trial. The Citations tab opens with citation share by owner, which shows at a glance how much of a topic is yours. Below it, each source has its owner tag, a Yes or No for your brand, the competitors on the page, its topics and how many prompts and responses cite it.

Influence Score multiplies the share of responses that cite a source by the number of unique prompts that cite it. It turns a long list into an order of work, which we found more useful than raw citation counts.

Scrunch partners with Noble and Stacker for placements on cited sites, but inside the app the work is still yours. Core covers four engines, and Claude, Gemini and AI Mode need Enterprise.

Key features

  • Citations by owner. Your brand, competitors and third parties.
  • Influence Score for every domain and URL.
  • Citation Consistency. The share of responses that cite a source.
  • Filters by persona, country, topic, platform and funnel stage.
  • Site audits and agent traffic, next to the citation data.

Where it falls short

  • $250 a month to start, with 5 user licenses.
  • Gemini, Claude and AI Mode are Enterprise only.
  • Prompts refresh every 72 hours after the first 14 days, unless you refresh by hand.

User reviews

Scrunch's G2 reviews have been quoted many times in our comparisons, so here are two.

“It tracks our share of voice, citation rate and the top domains AI uses.” (Source)

“There are small kinks. Removing old tags from prompts is harder than it should be.” (Source)

Pricing

  • Core: $250/month for 125 prompts on 4 engines, 5 user licenses
  • Enterprise: custom, 9 engines, custom prompts, API and SSO
  • There's a 7-day free trial.

10. LLMrefs: best for engine coverage on a budget

LLMrefs dashboard

LLMrefs is a keyword-based AI rank tracker that shows the full list of source URLs AI engines cite for your keywords, across 11 engines for one $79 plan, which suits SEOs who think in keywords and can live with weekly data.

LLMrefs isn't on our tested list, so this section is based on its pricing page, product pages and docs.

You give it keywords, and LLMrefs generates the prompts around them. Its sources view lists every cited URL, which you can filter, and the top cited domains, and LLMrefs pitches it as a way to find content and outreach opportunities.

It covers ChatGPT (including ChatGPT Search), AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Grok, Copilot, Meta AI and DeepSeek, with no add-ons. The trade-off is freshness: every keyword updates at least once a week.

Key features

  • All engines on one plan, with no per-engine fees.
  • Full cited-URL list with filters, plus top cited domains.
  • 500 prompts across unlimited projects and seats.
  • 50+ countries and 20+ languages.
  • CSV export and API, plus a free Reddit threads finder tool.

Where it falls short

  • Weekly updates, not daily.
  • No gap score or owner split for cited pages.
  • No content, outreach or fix workflow, and the $79 price is labeled limited-time.

User reviews

We couldn't find independent user reviews of LLMrefs on G2, Trustpilot or Product Hunt to quote.

Pricing

  • All in One: $79/month for 500 prompts on every engine, weekly
  • 7-day free trial.

11. Knowatoa: best for competitor citation analysis

Knowatoa dashboard

Knowatoa is an AI search monitoring tool that shows which domains AI models cite for your questions, tagged as yours, a competitor's or a third party's, which suits small teams that want a simple competitor citation view.

Knowatoa isn't on our tested list, so this section is based on its pricing page, docs and product updates.

Citations show up on every plan. Each cited domain gets a citation count, its share of the total, one of 20 categories and a relationship tag (you, competitor or third party). Since an August 2026 update, citations are also tracked down to the individual page, and the API and MCP can compare one period with another.

Starter covers ChatGPT, AI Overviews and AI Mode. Growth adds Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Meta AI, plus the API, MCP and Looker Studio. Knowatoa doesn't publish its question limits.

Key features

  • Citation tracking on every plan, with you, competitor and third-party tags.
  • 20 domain categories, assigned automatically.
  • Page-level citations since August 2026.
  • Competitor visibility gaps and a weekly digest of changes.
  • AI agents and article drafts for your highest-priority questions.

Where it falls short

  • Starter tracks 3 engines.
  • Question limits aren't published.
  • The CSV sources export is domain-level.

User reviews

Knowatoa has no reviews on G2 yet, and we didn't find any on Trustpilot or Product Hunt.

Pricing

  • Starter: $59/month on ChatGPT, AI Overviews and AI Mode
  • Growth: $199/month on all 7 services, with API, MCP and Looker Studio
  • Enterprise: custom
  • There's a free trial.

What the citation data actually tells you

Citation patterns differ by engine, by industry and by month, which is the main reason to track them instead of guessing.

That last point is why the owner split and gap views matter. They narrow a long citation list down to the pages you can actually do something about.

Which AI citation tracker should you choose?

  • You want citation tracking plus agents that work the gaps on their own: Orchly.
