Gauge alternatives are worth a look if you don't sell a developer tool, or if $599 a month for three AI engines feels like a lot. Gauge now calls itself an agent-led growth platform, with case studies from PostHog, Supabase and Clerk and a separate product that tests whether coding agents like Claude Code and Codex pick your tool. But its only self-serve plan, Growth, costs $599 a month, and in late October 2026 it went from six AI engines to three (ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Microsoft Copilot) and from five seats to three.
AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity, sentiment and exports now need Enterprise, and Claude and Grok run on your own API keys. These 10 Gauge alternatives cover more engines for less, or have agents do more of the work. Prices checked in November 2026.
How we tested these Gauge alternatives
We signed up for Profound, Peec AI, Otterly.AI, Promptwatch, Scrunch, Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit and Writesonic, ran the same buyer prompts through each, and compared them with what Gauge's Growth plan includes. For every tool we noted:
- Which AI engines you get on the plan you can buy, and whether Claude and Grok cost extra
- How many prompts are tracked, how often, and how long setup takes
- Whether it writes content or runs outreach, and what a month really costs
We haven't used Gauge itself, so we describe it from its pricing page (including archived copies), docs, changelog and reviews. Searchable is covered the same way, and AthenaHQ needed a sales call, so we went by its docs and demo videos. Review quotes are condensed from G2, Product Hunt and Trustpilot and link to the original.
Orchly is our product. We judged it on the same points and say where it falls short. Prices and features checked in November 2026.

1. Orchly: best agentic Gauge alternative to get recommended by AI
Orchly is an agentic AI search optimization platform. It tracks your brand across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and other AI engines, and its agents run on their own, on a schedule, across the whole loop.
They analyze your AI visibility, your competitors and your Search Console and GA4 data. They find the pages to write or refresh and do it in your brand voice, keep Brand Brain up to date, find the sites and Reddit threads worth reaching, run the outreach, and audit your site for technical SEO and AI search issues. You decide whether each agent runs on its own or waits for your approval.
Gauge tracks, drafts articles and suggests actions for your team to pick up. Orchly's agents run the whole loop end to end, outreach and site fixes included, from $49 a month instead of $599, and it's built for any industry, from SaaS to e-commerce.
Tracking and insight
- Daily tracking. ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews, with Gemini, AI Mode, Claude, Grok and Copilot as add-ons (Orchly also tracks Meta AI and DeepSeek). Gauge Growth covers ChatGPT, AI Mode and Copilot, and runs Claude and Grok only on your own API keys.
- Prompts by brand and intent. Branded vs non-branded, and commercial, informational or transactional.
- Perception, fact check and Mention Gap. How AI describes you, which claims are wrong, and cited sources that skip you.
- ChatGPT shopping. For e-commerce brands, your products in ChatGPT shopping answers.
Content, outreach and fixes
- Content Agent. Gauge Growth includes 18 articles a month. Orchly Essential includes 20 created or refreshed, published to WordPress, Webflow, Framer, Wix, Sanity or Ghost.
- Activation Agent. Finds the sites, people and Reddit threads AI engines draw on, runs the outreach and drafts the replies. Gauge's plans don't include outreach.
- Site Health Agent. Technical and AI search fixes.
Search data
- Search Console and GA4. Clicks, conversions and revenue from Google Search Console and GA4.
Where Orchly falls short
- Fewer prompts. Gauge Growth tracks 600 prompts daily on three engines. Orchly Pro tracks 100, with more on Enterprise.
- No coding-agent tests. Gauge runs real coding sessions in Claude Code and Codex to see whether they choose and install your developer tool. Orchly doesn't test coding agents.
Pricing: Essential $49/month (25 prompts, 20 articles). Pro $125/month (100 prompts, 50 articles, 5 users). 7-day free trial.

2. Profound: best enterprise alternative
Profound is an enterprise AI visibility platform used by more than 1,000 brands, including a third of the Fortune 100, and it suits large teams that want Claude and deep analytics without wiring up their own API keys.
We tested it on the 7-day trial. Profound picked 50 prompts for our industry, we couldn't edit them, and only ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews ran. So the trial shows you the product more than your own market.
Where it goes past Gauge is engine coverage and demand data. Enterprise tracks nine engines, Claude included, and Prompt Volumes estimates how often people really ask a question, from more than 1.5 billion prompts in 35 countries.
It's also harder to buy. Since September 2026 brands can only get it through sales, and agent work in AI Marketer now draws on credit wallets, added in October.
Key features
- Nine engines on Enterprise. ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Mode, Gemini, Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude, AI Overviews and Exa.
- Prompt Volumes. Demand estimates from 1.5 billion+ prompts in 35 countries, updated weekly.
- AI Marketer. Agents that draft and publish content, set up from a plain-language request since October 2026, with a Context Manager that learns your brand.
- Agent Analytics. AI crawler activity on your site.
- Enterprise controls. SSO, API, exports, MCP and a Claude connector.
Where it falls short
- No self-serve plan for brands, so pricing goes through sales.
- The trial runs preset prompts on three engines.
- No Grok since Exa replaced it in September 2026.
- There's a lot to learn before the dashboards make sense.
User reviews
“I like that sentiment sits right next to visibility and citations.” (Source)
“The dashboards save us a lot of time compared with checking each AI tool by hand, but I'd like more ways to customize reports for different stakeholders.” (Source)
Pricing
- Brands: custom Enterprise pricing through sales
- Agencies: a separate self-serve Agency Growth plan
- Trial: 7 days free, with 50 preset prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews
3. Peec AI: best affordable tracker
Peec AI is an AI search analytics platform for marketing teams and agencies, and its €85 Starter plan is one of the cheapest ways to get daily tracking with unlimited users.
We signed up and had it running in a few minutes. Peec read our site, suggested prompts, and visibility, position and sentiment against competitors filled in per engine.
The sources view is what we used most. Cited domains come labelled as owned, editorial, reference or UGC, so you can see quickly which kinds of sites shape the answers in your category.
Next to Gauge it's a tracker first. There's no article engine, so the writing stays with your team, and Starter gives you 50 prompts on 3 models where Gauge Growth gives you 600.
Key features
- Model choice. Pick 3 models, such as ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Copilot, Gemini or Naver AI, and add more for a monthly fee.
- Source analytics. Cited domains and URLs labelled as owned, editorial, reference or UGC.
- Actions. Ranked suggestions for pages to fix, threads to join and content gaps, since February 2026.
- Brand Perception and GA4 AI referrals, both added in September 2026.
- AI crawler data from CDN and log integrations such as Cloudflare, Vercel and AWS.
- MCP server since April 2026, plus Looker Studio on Advanced.
Where it falls short
- 50 prompts on Starter.
- Claude, Grok and DeepSeek need an Enterprise plan.
- No article writing or outreach. Actions suggest the work and your team does it.
User reviews
“Peec analyzed our website at signup and suggested prompts that really fit our business.” (Source)
“We chose Peec for its simple interface and flexible project setup. The one thing missing is a page-level AEO readiness check, which other platforms include.” (Source)
“Each tier only gets a few models, so the wall between AI models feels limiting at times.” (Source)
Pricing
- Starter: €85/month for 50 prompts and 3 models
- Pro: €205/month for 150 prompts
- Advanced: €425/month for 350 prompts and Looker Studio
- Unlimited users on every plan, and 15% off with yearly billing. Enterprise adds all models, SSO and API access.
4. Otterly.AI: best budget alternative
Otterly.AI is a low-cost AI search monitoring tool for small teams and agencies, and its $29 Lite plan includes four engines, one more than Gauge Growth, for about a twentieth of the price.
We've used Otterly ourselves. We added our brand, it suggested competitors and prompts, and the first report was ready in about 15 minutes.
The dashboard is simple. You get coverage, position and sentiment against competitors, plus a Brand Visibility Index that sorts brands into Leaders, Niche and Low Performance. We liked how fast it showed which competitor owns each prompt.
It doesn't write for you, though, and 15 prompts on Lite run out quickly. AI Mode, Gemini and Claude cost extra each month, and there's no Grok.
Key features
- Four engines included. ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot.
- Daily runs with unlimited seats.
- Agent Analytics. AI crawler visits from your server logs, added in August 2026.
- GEO audit and recommendations for your URLs.
- ChatGPT Ads and Shopping columns since June 2026.
- Looker Studio connector, plus a public API and MCP from Standard.
Where it falls short
- 15 prompts on Lite, and GEO recommendations capped at 3 a week.
- Engine add-ons push all 7 engines on Standard to about $416 a month.
- No article writing or outreach.
User reviews
“Otterly is our go-to GEO platform, for us and for our clients, and the dashboards make the next steps clear.” (Source)
“The monitoring is useful, but it's not always clear what to do with the findings, and at this price I'd expect more concrete guidance.” (Source)
“Data updates sometimes take longer than I expect.” (Source)
Pricing
- Lite: $29/month for 15 prompts
- Standard: $189/month for 100 prompts
- Premium: $489/month for 400 prompts
- Yearly billing saves 15%, and the free trial needs no card.
5. Promptwatch: best mid-priced tracking plus content
Promptwatch is an AI search visibility platform that combines prompt tracking, content writing and AI crawler logs, aimed at growth teams and agencies. It raised a €6 million seed round in July 2026.
We signed up for the 7-day trial. You enter your URL, pick 5 prompts, and it collects answers from the chatbots' own interfaces rather than through APIs.
Every plan includes all of its models, Claude among them, which Gauge only runs through your own Anthropic key. The limit is the response allowance. Essential's 6,000 responses a month won't cover 50 prompts on every model every day, so in practice you choose models or check less often.
Content writing and Agent Analytics start on Professional at $245, still well under Gauge's $599. The dashboards are dense, and we spent most of our time in Citations Analysis.
Key features
- All models on every plan. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Claude, Gemini, Meta AI, DeepSeek and Copilot.
- Citations Analysis. Which of your pages and which third-party sources get pulled into answers.
- Content writing and refresh. Grounded in a knowledge base, from Professional.
- Agent Analytics. AI crawler visits to your pages through log integrations, from Professional.
- MCP and API on every plan, plus Search Console, WordPress, Webflow and Slack integrations.
Where it falls short
- 6,000 responses on Essential limit how many models you can run daily.
- Content tools and crawler logs need the $245 plan.
- No Grok, and no outreach.
- The interface takes a few days to learn.
User reviews
“We now start content briefs from what Citations Analysis shows gets cited, not from keyword volume.” (Source)
“It's a Swiss army knife for us, and the MCP and skills work so well with Claude that we rarely open the app, because the UI is a little complicated.” (Source)
“The tokens run out quickly, and the price is on the high side.” (Source)
Pricing
- Essential: $95/month for 50 prompts, 6,000 responses and 1 project
- Professional: $245/month for 150 prompts, 18,000 responses, content writing and Agent Analytics
- Business: $579/month for 350 prompts and 5 projects, by demo
- Essential and Professional come with a 7-day free trial.
6. Searchable: best all-in-one at $125
Searchable is a London-based AI visibility platform that bundles tracking, page audits and article writing in one $125 plan, which suits small teams that like Gauge's track-and-write setup but not its price.
We haven't run Searchable ourselves, so this section is based on its pricing page, docs and Trustpilot reviews. Pro gives you 100 tracked prompts per model, 20 articles a month, 200 page audits and one project, with daily tracking.
ChatGPT, AI Overviews and Perplexity are included. Copilot, DeepSeek, AI Mode, Gemini, Grok and Claude are paid add-ons, and the cheaper Claude Lite and Grok Lite options answer from training data with web search off, so they don't return live citations.
Reviewers like how quickly they can go from an insight to a fix through the GA4, Search Console and WordPress connections. The complaints we found are about a buggy content editor and billing after cancelling.
Key features
- Three engines included. ChatGPT, AI Overviews and Perplexity, with six more as add-ons.
- Content Studio. 20 articles a month on Pro.
- Technical audits. 200 page audits a month on Pro.
- Agent Analytics and AI shopping data on every plan.
- Integrations. GA4, Search Console and WordPress, plus MCP and API on every plan.
Where it falls short
- Only three engines before add-ons.
- White-label reports and Looker Studio start on the $400 Scale plan.
- Some users report bugs in the content editor.
User reviews
“Searchable takes something complex and breaks it down into a simple system.” (Source)
“I found blind spots within minutes of signing up, and the insights are laid out well enough to hand straight to Claude Code.” (Source)
“The 14 days went fine, but after I cancelled it still tried to charge my card, and I can't remove my card details.” (Source)
Pricing
- Pro: $125/month for 100 prompts per model, 20 articles and 1 project
- Scale: $400/month for 500 prompts per model, 80 articles and 10 projects
- Enterprise: from $999/month for 1,250 prompts per model
- Pro and Scale have a 14-day free trial. Extra models are paid add-ons.
7. AthenaHQ: best for many engines
AthenaHQ is a Y Combinator-backed AI search platform with a free plan and 11 engines on its $295 Starter plan, Claude and Grok included, which suits teams that want those two without Gauge's bring-your-own-key setup. AthenaHQ routed us to a sales call before access, so this section is based on its documentation, demo videos and G2 reviews.
According to the docs, setup only needs a domain. AthenaHQ writes a brand profile, suggests about 10 competitors and drafts 10 prompts, and every metric links to the stored answers behind it.
It runs on credits rather than prompts. One credit is one AI response, so the 3,600 credits on Starter go faster than they sound once you run prompts on many engines, and self-serve plans cover one country.
Key features
- 11 engines on Starter, including AI Mode, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral.
- Free plan. Essentials gives 300 credits on 5 engines.
- Clickable metrics. Share of voice, mention rate and citation rate by model, each linked to the answers.
- Sources and Brand Traits. Cited domains labelled as yours, a competitor's or a third party's, plus the words AI uses about you.
- Unlimited seats on every plan.
Where it falls short
- No plan between free and $295 a month.
- Personas, the recommendation engine, the Athena Citation Engine, BI exports and SSO are Enterprise only.
- Self-serve plans cover one country.
- No article engine or outreach on self-serve plans.
User reviews
“Our technical buyers ask Claude or ChatGPT for tools before they visit our site, and AthenaHQ finally showed us whether we appear. We hit a couple of minor bugs, though support fixed them quickly.” (Source)
“The pricing is published, and the plan covers what it says it covers.” (Source)
“Nothing in the UI explained citation rate versus mention rate, so I had to email support.” (Source)
Pricing
- Essentials: free, with 300 credits on 5 engines
- Starter: $295/month, about $245 billed yearly, for 3,600 credits on 11 engines
- Enterprise: custom
8. Scrunch: best for technical teams
Scrunch is an AI visibility platform for mid-market and enterprise teams that care about how AI crawlers read their site as much as what the answers say. Sitecore has owned it since June 2026.
We used it on the 7-day trial. Onboarding is guided. Scrunch drafts a brand description from your site, you confirm it, add competitors, a persona and your topics, and start from five suggested prompts.
Compared with Gauge, Core costs $250 for 125 prompts on ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews and Copilot. That gets you AI Overviews and Perplexity, which Gauge now keeps for Enterprise, for well under half the price.
It doesn't write articles, and new prompts run daily for 14 days and then every 72 hours. Claude, Gemini, AI Mode and Grok need an Enterprise contract.
Key features
- Core engines. ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews and Copilot, with 125 prompts and 5,000 responses a month.
- Agent Traffic. AI crawler visits by page, once you connect your CDN or host.
- Site audits. 5 a month on Core.
- GA4 AI referrals, enhanced in October 2026, plus an MCP server.
- Agent Experience Platform (AXP). Serves AI agents an optimized version of your pages, on Enterprise.
Where it falls short
- 1 persona, 1 country and 1 language on Core.
- Claude, Gemini, AI Mode and Grok are Enterprise only.
- Prompts drop to a 72-hour cycle after the first two weeks.
- No content creation or outreach.
User reviews
“We curate our own prompts from search demand data, so we trust that we're seeing the closest-to-truth picture of our clients' AI visibility.” (Source)
“Agent Traffic shows which pages bots crawl most and why. The GA4 integration keeps disconnecting, and switching between our two properties isn't easy.” (Source)
“I can't export the charts, so we screenshot them for client reports.” (Source)
Pricing
- Core: $250/month for 125 prompts on 4 engines, 5 seats and 5 site audits
- Enterprise: custom, with 9 engines, custom prompts, AXP, API and SSO
- 7-day free trial on Core.
9. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit: best inside an SEO suite
The Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit adds AI search tracking to the Semrush SEO suite, which suits teams whose SEO already runs in Semrush and who want AI data next to their keywords and backlinks. Adobe has owned Semrush since April 2026.
We set the toolkit up on our own domain. You click AI in the left menu, enter your domain and get an AI Visibility Score out of 100. Prompt Research was the report we went back to most, because it works like Keyword Magic for AI questions.
Against Gauge it's far cheaper and has prompt volume data, but it tracks far fewer prompts, 25 per domain against Gauge's 600. Brand Performance updates weekly, and the daily Prompt Tracking report covers fewer engines.
Key features
- AI Visibility Score. One number out of 100 for your domain, easy to share with a manager.
- Prompt Research. Volume and intent for AI questions from a database of more than 317 million prompts.
- Brand Performance. Weekly share of voice, sentiment and citations across ChatGPT, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini and Perplexity.
- MCP and a Claude connector, the connector released in August 2026.
- The Semrush SEO suite next to it, if you pay for it.
Where it falls short
- 25 prompts per domain on the $99 plan.
- Every extra user needs its own $99 license.
- Claude, Copilot and Grok aren't on the self-serve plans.
- It recommends, but doesn't write, publish or run outreach.
User reviews
“The AI Visibility score has become as valuable to us as Position Tracking, and the breakdown shows what's actually changing.” (Source)
“Prompt Research and Brand Performance sit nicely next to our SEO reports. But the base plan caps you at 25 prompts per domain, and the recommendations are sometimes too high-level to act on.” (Source)
Pricing
- AI Visibility Toolkit: $99/month per domain, billed yearly, for 25 prompts
- Extra prompts: 50 more for $60/month
- Semrush One: from $199/month with 50 prompts and the SEO toolkit
- The toolkit has no trial of its own. Semrush One has a 7-day free trial.
10. Writesonic: best for content volume
Writesonic is an AI writing and GEO platform that combines AI search tracking with article writing and WordPress publishing, for content teams that want volume at a lower price than Gauge.
Setup took us a few minutes. You pick topics, check the suggested prompts and choose competitors, and citation share against competitors comes in daily.
The writing is the reason to pick it. Plans include 15 to 50 AI-written articles a month, close to Gauge's 18 on the entry plan, and the Action Center re-measures each fix after 14 and 28 days.
The engine list held us back. Every self-serve plan, even Growth at $399, tracks only ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews, so Perplexity, AI Mode, Copilot, Claude and Grok need Enterprise.
Key features
- Tracking plus writing. 15, 25 or 50 AI articles a month, published to WordPress.
- Daily tracking with citation share and cited pages.
- Action Center. Fixes re-measured at day 14 and day 28, in full on Enterprise.
- Reddit and Search Console as data sources.
- MCP server, added in June 2026 with Project Hub.
Where it falls short
- Self-serve plans track only ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews.
- Sentiment starts on Growth at $399.
- Starter is billed yearly and has 1 user.
- Drafts still need editing before they go live.
User reviews
“It goes beyond writing to support the whole workflow, and the focus on AI search visibility is the part I value most. Niche or technical drafts can feel generic, so I still edit them.” (Source)
“The citation share view showed our percentage against competitors right away.” (Source)
“After four months, I still can't add new prompts to track after onboarding, and some charts don't populate.” (Source)
Pricing
- Starter: $79/month billed yearly, for 50 prompts and 1 user
- Basic: $199/month for 100 prompts and 2 users
- Growth: $399/month for 200 prompts, 3 users and sentiment
- You can start free without a card.
What changed at Gauge in 2026
Gauge has changed its plans several times this year, and the latest change is the biggest. Here's what we found on its pricing page, archived copies of it and its changelog.
- Starter removed (between May and September). The $99 Starter plan, which tracked ChatGPT only, was still on the pricing page in May. By early September, Growth at $599 was the only self-serve plan.
- Fewer seats on Growth. Growth included 10 seats in early September, 5 in October, and 3 today.
- Three engines instead of six (late October). Growth now runs its 600 daily prompts on ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Microsoft Copilot, which is 54,000 answers a month instead of 108,000. AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity, sentiment analysis and exports moved to Enterprise.
- Claude and Grok through your own keys. The plan grid now lists Claude and Grok as optional on both plans, run on your own Anthropic or xAI API key. Gauge's docs estimate about $2.50 to $3 per prompt a month for Claude and $1 to $2 for Grok, billed by the provider, and say the add-on isn't included in Growth.
- No free trial on the page. The one-week Growth trial was still advertised in early October. The current pricing page doesn't mention one, though a code, agents10, takes 10% off the first three months.
- Agent-led growth (August). Gauge launched a separate product that runs real coding sessions in Claude Code and Codex to see whether they pick and correctly install your developer tool. It's billed in credits, with 1,000 free credits and plans from $100 a month, and added an AX Check in September and GitHub PR checks and an open-source CLI in October.
- Gauge Chat updates. The AI visibility product, now called Gauge Chat, added PDF and PowerPoint reports from Ask Gauge and GitHub and Sanity publishing in June, page refreshes in July, Fanouts in August, reusable Skills in September and scheduled Ask Gauge tasks in October.
When to stay with Gauge
We haven't used Gauge ourselves. This is based on its pricing page, documentation, changelog and the reviews below.
Stay with Gauge if:
- You sell a developer tool and want to know whether Claude Code and Codex choose and install it.
- You need 600 prompts tracked daily, and ChatGPT, AI Mode and Copilot cover the engines your buyers use.
- You want 18 articles a month drafted from your visibility gaps and published to Webflow, Framer, Sanity or GitHub.
- Its case studies match your market, like PostHog, Supabase, Clerk and Neo4j.
User reviews
Gauge has four reviews on G2, all rated five stars, and two on Product Hunt.
“Gauge writes AEO-optimized articles and publishes them, and it plugs into Slack and Claude. My only wish is more proactive updates to older blogs.” (Source)
“The UI is easy to navigate, and it ties its insights to steps we can take.” (Source)
“Its citation tracking seems best-in-class. But without a data export, Ask Gauge is a bit of a black box about what data it uses.” (Source)
